What is some of your favorite music from this past year?

I am not at all a fan of Vampire Weekend, but this is a lovely song reminiscent of a beautiful summer morning, even if the melody is stolen from 'Canon in D Major'. Easily one of the most beautiful tracks from 2013 (IMO).

Killer Mike and EL-P, under the moniker Run the Jewels, released what is one of my favorite hip-hop albums of the year. This album is just full of killer beats and awesome production courtesy of EL-P, who is one today's finest producers.

The new Knife album, Shaking the Habitual, was somewhat of a letdown when held up to their previous album from seven years ago, but I really like this song a lot. It's definitely the best song on the album.

I was never a huge Sigur Ros fan and find them to be rather boring, but this song off their 2013 release, Kveikur, is a slice of life. This gives me chills.

The Pet Shop Boys released a new album which I found to be an incredibly strong piece of electronic dance music and, in my opinion, one of their best albums to date. It's quite a bit heavier than their other works, too.

Goldfrapp's new album is a very nice collection of some very subdued and mellow music. I especially love this song...

The new Daft Punk album featured some standout tracks. This seems to be one of the less popular ones, but my favorite on the album nonetheless.

Electronic duo Fuck Buttons put out a great album as well, featuring this track below, which has a great atmosphere.

I did not know that Pet Shop Boys had a new album... I will definitely have to check that out!

 

You listen to okkervil river? That's awesome, I never hear them mentioned. Also didn't know they dropped a new album.

I love Okkervil River... I have seen them in concert many times and they are amazing. Glad to know that there is someone else around who has heard of them too

You should definitely check out their latest deviate, it is much better than the previous album, at least in my opinion.

 

I am seriously going to listen to it now!

 

I don't listen to the radio. Nobody that I listen to came out with new music in 2013 except DKM. Hopefully that means 2014 will kick ass for music.

I got no clue this year! I definately didn't check a lot of new releases out

 

well none of the music that came to me this year was from corporate media nor the music industry, and i don't remember the names of any of the piece, nor even of all the people who made them.

most of it is from people i 'watch' on line, who make music mostly as a hobby.
a very few of them have gone or are going commercial. but most of them aren't and have no intention of supporting the music industry any more then i do.

so i'm sorry. most of them don't have music videos on you tube, and i'm really sure you'll never hear any of them on clear channel.

i do know one of them is recording at abby road, so i wish him well going big, but he and his partners are really the exception.

arr dot kay dot has youtube channel though, and maybe one or two of the others.

 

London Grammar are starting to grow on me, very haunting vocals

Other than that I think that 2013 was a horrible year for music.

 

By far my favorite song from this year is the Rick Ross - No Games remix with Meek Mill, Wale and Future, shit is my new jam.

Most annoying song of the year is that Avicii song, which seems to be all over the radio lately.

Lets be a.swedish dj, write a cool song, but then turn it into a country song. What da?

I hate country.


As for.favourite, i did end up playing RAM a lot, Instant Crush my favourite on that album

I enjoyed new albums from Boards of Canada,Meat Puppets,Grant Hart and Flaming Lips.In fact these were the only physical cds I bought all year.I gave the new MBV album a few listens on Youtube.

Here,though,is my fave song from "Uncut" magazines end of year best of cd.I think I might check out this guy's album:
