1960: (Yes - "All those Years Ago") JOHNNY PRESTON - RUNNING BEAR. The song even now resonates as an observation of the futility and tragic circumstances of the futility of Love's hope forlorn - and one which one can draw comparison with the insistence desire of some Nations Patriotism - seeing the ordinarily people suffer the worst - (I was always a child of 'consideration') =
1949, so you are really making me feel like an old fossil. LOL I have no idea what music was popular at the time, but at least most of my favorite operas predate me. Just done some research. Not a single opera in the 1940s. What was wrong with everyone.???????????????????
I am not generally a fan of modern music, but this guy can sing and puts some expression into his performance. Jane quite likes country music and I am sure that she has listened to a few Hank Williams records over the years. One of the funniest moments of my younger days was when a guy who I went to school told me that he was going to see 'the beatles' and I thought that he was going to the insect house at London zoo. LOL.
I was talking to a twenty something a few years ago about music, and I mentioned the Beatles as one of the trailblazers of rock & roll. He asked me who there were.
In 1968, I was showing films to about 2000 people in our local cinema to support my student income. If someone then had told me that 10 years later I would have given up my medical studies and been showing films to the Queen at the 1978 royal film performance, I would probably offered them some brain surgery. LMAO.
I can relate to several experiences that are identical to the lyrics of this song. I had some crazy times when I was younger, bro.
