Some religious questions are moral ones, cultural ones. And some are purely scientific ones. Is there a God? When does life begin? Are we living in an age of moral decline? I don't know the answers to those questions sometimes.

But I know the earth isn't flat. Why? Because there is no "firmament" holding back the waters (Gen 1:7).

You have to realize that most religions exist to explain the unexplainable. They attempt to pre-empt any other type of inquiry into those questions, esp. scientific. You must accept the religious explanation without question to be part of the group.

That is at the core of what is wrong with religion. As science explains more of how things work, religion becomes more obsolete and absurd.
