Thank you... Emergency Disaster Relief Funds Delivered to 400,000 Families So Far (CNSNews.com) - President Bush announced Thursday that more than 400,000 families have registered to receive emergency disaster relief funds, which can be used for food, clothing and other essentials. The money, in the form of a debit card for some, amounts to $2,000 for every household, Bush said. He said those in shelters like the Houston Astrodome who don't have access to transportation or those who don't have access to checking or savings accounts should be patient, because FEMA and Red Cross teams will find ways to get them assistance as well. "By registering for the first $2,000, you will begin the process of arranging for the delivery of other longer term assistance that will be made available in the coming weeks for eligible households," Bush said. People not in the shelters can register for the assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or log onto www.fema.gov.
people are being relocated to various regions of the usa. while it's sad their homes are gone, they have a chance for a new life in a new area, bringing a new infusion to various places...i can't wait for the first cajun style frybread stand.
Nothing is the same as New Orleans. That place has a spirit all its own. What's needed is a long term effort to rebuild New Orleans and the coastal region in general, and I mean more than just rebuilding the homes. That area will be underwater permanently in a couple generations if there isn't an intelligent management of the environment in the next decades. .
Barbara Bush had some positive things to say about the hurricane. Apparently she thinks the hurricane leaves the poor folks better off!
Yeah, Barb made another snide remark the other day. Maybe she can hire a cajun cook to work in her home. .
What a bitch. What's sad is how far removed from reality this woman is to think that complete and utter devastation of your home and town, sitting in stink and feces for a week, and having to live in a convention center or superdome for god knows how long is a positive thing for a poor person. Oh boy, a $2,000 debit card and a cot in a convention center for three months! This is really working out well for the underprivileged!
hm. that's a tough one. i'll give it a go, though, since this is the "positive things about katrina" thread... the poor who were condemned to languish in the slums of NO, as well as the rest of the region, without the proper attention to their dire straights are now at the political epicenter, and will surely recieve due consideration for their livelihoods. their homes will be rebuilt, like the 6 million dollar man, better and stronger than before. i'm sorry, i just can't go on. it's making my head hurt.
Oh, another positive thing: Bush pledges to rebuild Trent Lott's house, and it's gonna be fantastic! Yay! Seems like it ain't just the poor making out better since Katrina hit!
Pointbreak that is honestly a terrible thing to say, just because he believes in the NWO conspiracies it's a good thing his house was ruined? I dislike Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity because of their political views and the way they foam at the mouth as they present them...but if their house was ruined in the disaster I would want them to survive and I wouldn't say it was a good thing that their house was destroyed...

Like mynameiskc he has a penchant for his own kin over others..If he had been lynched or his balls chopped off.. THATS A DIFFERENT MATTER. This is is his home, we can have a giggle and not care about him having his property damaged..because he is a ass.. thats why i was not that bothered and thought it was 'extremely good news' ... Thats my personal opinion..
I think I have a fair degree of compassion, but I draw the line well before former KKK leaders who are convicted criminals and continue to spread racist and anti-semetic views. Even in these extreme circumstances I could almost suffer the bastard a home, but the home (hit by some fairly hefty nature - 5 foot diameter trees, apparently) was a home/office used for his hatemongering. So tough luck and thank you Mr. Tree. Matthew surely you meant "like mynameiskc said..."
hahahahah mmmmm yes i did mean that .. i was to consumed in writing her name right to remember to add that vital word.. I should have just cut and pasted it or just got it wrong on reflection. That would probably make a good thread. 'remove a word to make the sentence completly the opposite'
