i've not had the 120 minute ipa...i've been tempted, but it is very expensive... someday soon, hopefully. i adore the 90 minute, though. they have some really wonderful and creative beers though....i thoroughly enjoyed the mida touch, abnormal though it was... and raison d'etre was pretty dang good, too. i also tried the chateau jiahu back in june, and haven't been able to find it anywhere since. it's not got the greatest reviews on beeradvocate, but what it all boils down to is personal taste, anyway. if anyone knows where it can be purchased by mail, i'd be greatly thankful for the information. i live in ohio and it is legal for me to have alcohol shipped to me. i'd like to try more dogfish head beers, too, but they aren't widely available around here...just occasionally. though more and more so it seems. every beer i've tasted of theirs was wonderful, to be honest. i'd be really interested in tasting their liquor de malt.....the idea of a craftbrewed malt liquor is intrigueing as hell....i'd definitely try it, if for no other reason than the novelty http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/64/17289
I was gonna say the same exact thing, even down to those 2 beers, kudos! Give me Guinness or give me death!
guinness is ok, but not an amazing stout. blue moon is definitely good for the price, and great for a macrobrewery's attempt at a witbier, but still subpar. i like both, and will drink both. but there are better beers for the money out there for sure. when it comes to guinness, i usually prefer the extra stout
budweiser has to be one of the most disgusting beers out there... i dont understand why so many people like it
samuel adams utopias....iirc, its like 20 or 25%ABV...i think 25.....around the strength of port rather than most beers... i've not had it, but i believe pressed rat has said he tried it at a tasting. its only released very occasionally, and it costs around a hundred bucks a bottle....one of the most expensive beers in the world..... i'd love to try it, but i wouldnt even be able to find it even if i HAD the money....
thats rediculous. guinness draught is ok, but not worth the money. guinness extra stout is more flavorful and more cost effective as it costs roughly the same but is more alcoholic.... still, i understand enjoying a milder brew. but there are better beers out there for the money. i still love it though. in all honesty, though, i generally prefer murphy's irish stout. still not more cost effective, but i think slightly better than guinness draught, and definitely comparable in its flavor profile. you ought to try youngs double chocolate stout if you havent. mild and smooth, but higher in alcohol than a dry irish stout and sweeter, with actual cocoa and dark chocolate added to the brew. also samuel smith's oatmeal stout is magnificent. lion stout is good if you want a strong stout and you're on a budget, but its gonna be more robust as its an imperial stout (lots more malt and everything for a higher alcohol content...8% by volume...still pretty smooth and delicious for the money though....at 3 bucks for a 22oz its only a little more expensive than malt liquor)
i automatically though of kronenbourg, but then i looked it up and its kronenbourg 1664, not 1554....are you talking about the new belgium brew? if so, how is it? we dont get new belgium distributed here...i wish we did the only new belgium beer i've had is their tripel when i was out in seattle the past summer. i liked it, but i've had better tripels. all things aside i thought it was pretty fucking good, and i wish i had an opportunity to try more. im not much for buying booze online as i can usually go get what i want at a local shop and pay less, even when you dont factor s&h into it.... still, if i buy beer online ever, new belgium is among the companies i'd want to try more of..... new belgium (any of theirs i havent had) and samiclaus are pretty much what i'd be looking for. i'd want to get yeungling if i could, but shipping would be too much. i love yeungling because it's pretty incredible for such a cheap beer, but shipping would probably at least double the price unless i ordered an ungodly amount. it would probably be cheaper to drive to PA and get it (i'm in ohio, where it isnt distributed, but we share a border with pennsylvania, where its brewed..if indiana or kentucky have it, it would probably be cheaper to go to either of those to get it than PA) either way, i'm not likely to pay the postage or make the drive to get it to me. but if i ever drive anywhere i can get it sometime soon, i'm bringing back at LEAST a case....
it may not have received all time highest ratings, and definitely will never be listed as the worlds best beer in any way.......but for the record, my personal all-time favorite of ANY style of beer is probably forêt, by brasserie dupont. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/637/2430
I had a girl worked in a bottleshop once, gave me two cases of Michelob 'cause they were expired. was a real nice beer, too. but my favorite beer in the world is Chang. what a great beverage, yum yum.
PBR is the best value beer out there. New Belgium is a tad over-hyped. You can get better ales than their famous Fat Tire. 1554 is just amazing. It has the strongest and most wonderful taste that completely engulfs all of of your senses. Ummm.... that chocolate and coffee. I do like 1664. I was actually drinking the 1554 out of a 1664 mug. Never did buy beer online though.
You know, after my third beer they all start to taste the same. That being said if I had extra money to throw around I would drink nothing but corona's with a lime innnnit.
