actually if I'm not mistaken, more helpful advise would be to know that along North/South streets, the numbers get larger as you head south and smaller as you head north!
Gettin' lost in Amsterdam is half the f'n fun! The street numbers and canals all meld into each other after awhile anyhow. Neither are gonna help you in the long run. The best piece of advice I can offer is to make sure you have enough reefer, shrooms or other to get you through to finding your way to your destination.
