    Hello,

we are experiencing a (partial) solar eclipse at the moment. This is what the sun looks like with your bare eyes:

since only about 70% of the sun is covered it looks bright and shiny as ever. But this is what you can see in a projection:

The picture is upside-down, but you can see the moon is 'biting a big piece' out of the sun.

    Regards

Its not that, its that the earth is blocking the sun at the moment

I was expecting the sky to go completely dark... It was my first time witnessing an eclipse, and it was a bit shit to be honest

You don't get total darkness excpet with 100% totality. Unless you are in the Faroes Islands (and some people paid thousands to be there, where it was a bit cloudy) you'd not get the darkness. I'm only a short distance from the path of totality, had 98% totality and lots of cloud, but the thin sliver of the sun poked through and looked ok

    Hello,

as Harpo said, if you are not in the small zone of totality, you will be disappointed if you don't know what to expect ;).

    Regards

Ah yes, I realize that now! I had naively made assumptions without even bothering to research any of it :p
