That might have effect upon a few, but most would likely find a work around. Governments can be quite adept at creating problems for all, but there are always those who are able to find solutions. Banks and financial institutions did, and profited at the expense of the majority of those who pay taxes.
i have visited many different communes, and 4 the most part what i have observed is very close knit families living very simply. i think that a lot of us who where raised during the cold war era where taught that communism is bad. i don't agree. communism done wrong can be a disaster, but when done properly it can be a very comfortable live.
Communism on a small scale, where it exists by choice of the inhabitants that make up the society and not imposed by government can work quite well. Nearly any form of government that imposes increasingly upon the governed results in proponents and opponents which become increasingly more difficult to balance. The problem is that those living simple lives in small communes eventually begin to look at those living more extravagantly with envy and government is called on to redistribute "more fairly?" from the more prosperous to the less prosperous. Most people are content living simply only when they see all others living just as simply, allowing government to exercise power as the ultimate equalizer.
Perhaps that 1st paragraph should be read and parsed in its entirety. This is the problem created by the use of political reinterpretation of the Constitution to adhere to an agenda as opposed to intent, eliminating the need for an amendment to incorporate changes.
I'd like to quickly point out that Sweden's welfare isn't as great as it seems. I'm not fully immersed in it, but we have 30% income tax, and still no completely free healthcare. No one has any idea what the hell our government is spending money on. At least I don't, and I have a pretty good idea of what the government is up to. Right now it's selling off our pharmacies to corporations. They're closing schools and such. But then again, it may have to do with either: Debts. Or: The financial crisis. Sweden isn't a huge land population wise. 9 million people. Also, another possible reason that they are closing schools and selling off our social security to corporations is because we have a right wing party in the government right now. The moderate conservatives. But those that almost won were the Social Democrats. The thing is that the social democrats leader is a pure fucking dumbass. She used to be a cleaner. She can't handle her own economy, and now she's thinks she can handle a whole nations economy. The moderate conservatives party leader is a good man, in the sense that he knows what he's doing, cause and effect and all that. But he's going in the wrong direction. To close this off, Sweden is awesome for many reasons, but at the same time, it's not an as well lubricated piece of machinery than let's say.. Canada. Canada has completely free healthcare, all surgeries are free. And 8% paycheck tax. Now that, is awesome.
Since freedom comes at a price, free is preferable. Just point me to where utopia has been achieved and I'll be on the next plane.
So very true. We've been taught, and especially past generations who lived through the Red Scare, that communism is bad. Heck even today we're taught that.
Neither does choice appear to have anything to do with what you were talking about. I'd like to form a Union, those who are employed will pay dues equal to half their annual income, and those who are unemployed will receive an equal distribution of the dues collected after the Union bosses receive their salaries. Membership is mandatory and failure to join will be prosecuted with heavy fines imposed. Nothing like togetherness, is there?
Very good information. I did not know this. I can't wait to send off this little piece of info to my Conservative Nationalist friend on Monday in math class. LOL +re[
