Social Media and the 'Narcissus Trap'

I use some mainstream social media as well as this site. I find it has a tendency to suck you into its' world. You post something, and then you're on tenterhooks to see if anyone has 'liked' your post. Then you congratulate yourself when someone does. You gaze into your online presence, and it gazes back at you. It takes you away from the real world and real people. Social media can be useful and enjoyable, but if you sail too close to the centre of the whirlpool it will suck you down into yourself.

They say social network takes people away from people, but I feel it also connects you to people you would otherwise not connect with.

I believe it's unhealthy for your mentality to sit on your Facebook and not see anyone but use messenger to communicate, but then on the other hand like I said, I can now talk to people all over the world.

8 years ago I was lost in a nethervoid, and now, I'm smoking bongs, drinking beer and talking to you fine people.

secondly, the answer is simple: use social media only to benefit/help society. Do not waste your time therein. Do not upload private photos of you just to brag. Do not waste empty calories on nothing. There is lots of work to do...

Back to the original subject, rather than sliding nouns and converting them into adjectives.
I have something of a dislike of social media. I have never had a Facebook page and consider Twitter a site for birdbrains and US presidents LMAO.
I stumbled on this site by accident found it to be one of the few places where a subject can be discussed where members discuss their opinions fairly articulately without resorting to personal insults and 'F' adjectives.
The whole thing about likes and replies can sometimes get a bit over the top, when getting no response. Unless I have a particular reason to feel otherwise, I assume that members have other things in their life and may have simply missed my post or be busy at work.
