j0hn, i was going to put my boyfriends ex wife, until i read this....i agree, PCness is much more annoying in everyday life.
Would you say not being allowed to be racist on an every day basis is annoying? I agree that political correctness can be awkward, and the best humour I find is blatantly non-PC, but there are reasons for it and very good ones....
I'm with Sal here. Would anyone really want to go back to a time when it was acceptable to use words like "coon", "Paki", "Yid" or "queer" in everyday speech? Though yes it can go too far - on some other fora I wouldn't even be able to quote these words.
Right at this moment the freging fli that is buzzing against my window!!! grrrrr. On a side note PC is a good thing and we need it until it goes as far as me having to call the town Christmas tree a holiday tree because it might offend some people, i live in england our religion is CoE and has been forever but some people from other countries that live here decided that it offends them. How is that right.
Fair point, I agree it's taking things too far to view the term Christmas tree as offensive, however bear in mind that the custom of decorating trees in December was originally a pagan one, taken up by Christianity to aid in their assimilation. As such much of what we do to celebrate Christmas is secular in nature. I'm an atheist, but still celebrate Christmas. Really it's as much a national holiday for all cultures as it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus - a story which, I might add, was itself entirely plagarised from the Roman story of Mithras....
no, im not saying that at all, but racism is racism. a seperate issue to being politically correct about everything and everyone. racism is wrong and is based on hatred by small minded twats but i was banned from using my mug at work coz people found it to offensive....it was meant in a purely humorous way what was written on it, my last job i used it for 2 years and had no problems, but that job was set in a different era....i got shit all day and sexist comments, but it was all meant in good humour and i think people need to get real about things like that, u cant go through life without ever offending or being offended by something. if its meant in humourous terms then it shouldnt be banned.
i know, i bought this one in today though, to make a statement: and was advised to find a plain mug for work. Pfffft!
Yeah that is pathetic cos if some one hears/reeds a swear word i mean that would be terrible they could be so offended they might faint I do love the new mug though
hehe umm...those people who hang around in modern art galleries in leather jackets, with their backs to whatevers on display, only present because of the chance, however slight, that it'll get them some sex. also, guiness in a can, it's like covering the mona lisa in marmalade. and akward silences, they suck.
Oh bless the posers, they're quite fun to lead on :leaving: I'm going remove having to work at 6:30 in the am if I want to miss a shift at work
Ill remove having to wait for miracles. Only for us though, dont want everyone going shit crazy and getting what they want all the time
