Hmm, Good question Mysteron- Protocol would suggest the Leader of the Party that won the largest amount of seat won (Blue Boris or Red Jezza) but one has to say that is more than uninspiring - and their number two's aren't really much better. Farage talks a good talk but is too one-dimensionally focused to oversee more than one issue. Most Parties have lac-lustre leaders - I think however from her speeches in parliament, drive and passion I may pump for Mhairi Black MP -SNP Member of Parliament for Paisley and Renfrewshire South since 2015
i hope they sort it out; really. the world has problems with its leadership. I don't dislike the current arrangement/administration in the U.K., but it seems like things are super unsettled! There should be a sturdy and reliable leader for every country, and right now I don't really get the feelings that that's the case.
In my view it's Corbyn all the way. I'm not bothered about his demeanor, appearance, and so on. He has the policies which would give ordinary workers the rights they deserve instead of being screwed over by the rich. He would not sell off the NHS to the States, nor continue its' privatisation which has been happening under the Tories since 2010. Rather he would probably reverse a lot of those actions. He is a principled and moral man, the antithesis of Johnson and his ilk. For me it's a no-brainer. The right-wing press and media continually demonise him for being a hard-left radical, but if you look at his policies they are not hard-left. Politics has moved so far to the right in this century here that he appears radical, but actually he is moderate left now by the standards of the Seventies. If you want real change for the better for the majority of the people of this country, then I say vote Corbyn. Were he to be replaced by a Blairite we would not see real change, but rather a Government with the same political stance and leanings as the Major years. Maybe supporting Corbyn is a risk in this right-wing country that we will see the Tories in again, but that is a risk I am prepared to take for the chance of a progressive socialist Government. For the many, not the few.
Yes Jeremy for Prime Minister, but Ken Livingstone for President after we've got rid of House of Windsor and the rest of the HoL to be replaced by a directly elected second chamber !!!
Really? If Animal Farm has told us anything it is that whilst "All *** are equal, some *** are more equal than others" and Power has been seen to corrupt on numerous occasions. I'm quite happy to see the Royals as head of state - and whilst hereditary peers often see people of dubious character, the same can also be said of Elected officials IMO
So tell me, who elected Mrs Windsor to be head of state and when ??? and when is she due for re-election ???
I wouldn't wish to teach you a History lesson as to how the Royal lineage began and was continued - suffice to say even Cromwell saw it's merits. As for Funding, the Royal Purse is under constant scrutiny with the major royals holding down full-time (Military) positions:- Elizabeth was a Mechanic/truck driver during Britain's last (Major) conflict and Andrew piloted Sea-Kings in the more recent unpleasantness, both these examples show leadership, in the heat of Battle. Unlike politicians who sat in number 10 and ordered the sinking of a Vessel sailing for home and make multiple expenses claims for Second homes, Travelling, when they walk/cycle to the chambers, employment for their spouses as secretaries/aides etc and - agree their (over-inflation rate) pay rises whilst restricting those of Public service but of the remnants of 'Austerity'.
Oh Orison NO. If ever there was someone not, then it would be him. The breaking of simple legal protocol to compromise an on-going matter that almost allowed one of Guilt to be released and set free, Gosh help us if anything more serious came to pass
Latest poll seems to vindicate my stance !!! https://www.aol.co.uk/news/2019/09/...embers-want-to-abolish-the-monarchy-poll-rev/ The house of Windsor are the latest in a succession of family robber barons throughout history. With any luck, they will be the last, and we can become a much better democracy with an ELECTED head of state and a second chamber (Senate ???) not stuffed with failed politicians or people who have bought their title with large donations to the political parties.
Hardly - the opinion of Politicians; to whom it would benefit to remove the Royal line? - Seems to be somewhat of a biased view. A better democracy? A second senate would be "stuffed with failed politicians or people who have bought their title with large donations to the political parties"
And, what's worst he is Dangerous! An inciter of violence, advocate of prejudice with no regard for due process of the Law = for those of simple mind and/or radical expressionism set up as a martyr to/for a cause of separatism and segregation - I thought we were long past that - especially in the 'U.'K.
Anyway the score was Judges 11 Boris 0 So trying to get the thread back on topic. Because Boris has made such a mess , I think his credibility with some of the wavering voters ( like myself) has diminished some what. I accept a Tory supporter will always vote Conservative and a staunch Labour supporter will always vote Labour . So others who don't follow a particular party including me are going to have a key part in this next General Election, of which I am sure as night follows day will happen in what's left of this year. So what about the Liberals ? I don't know anything about Jo Swinson but I feel I may need to . That's not because I am necessarily going to vote for the Liberals but because I reckon that they will play a key part . As things stand I cannot see either the Tories or Labour will win a majority election . The results of the recent elections kind of supports this . Even this government only got in due to the support of the Northern Irish parties. The Liberals seem to be gathering a little pace and they could be the key to either of the two main parties getting a majority . So would the Liberals make an "ideal" marriage with say Labour ? or even Conservative ?
I'd rather go Green - Locally our candidate is the only one who is regularly visible - and active. To be fair, the Labour Councillors seem to be receptive to comment, questions - although the MP is somewhat elusive
They did that before if you recall, after promising not to increase university tuition fees and then reneged on such promise. This time, notwithstanding the 17.4 million votes (a majority) in favour of leaving the EU, the limp dems are prepared to completely ignore that majority and if they gain power will cancel Article 50 which was taking us out.
Do you think the Greens are going to be big enough representation wise to form a coalition government ? I am looking at Labour + another . I don't think ,but I could be wrong, after all the mess ups , the damage done by austerity ,lack of leader credibility, that the Tories will not get in next time.
