Blacks still might have to overcome their roots but statistics show that black females are nearly three times as likely to get pregnant as a teenager than white females. I don't think anyone could argue that getting pregnant does not makes it difficult to finish school and can place a financial burden on their family. Pregnancy is not racist. Unwanted teen pregnancy can be easily prevented. You can even get free condoms from Health Departments. I could go on with gangs and other individual choices that "keeps the black man down".

Hopefully within a few generations this won't exist but for those who choose to keep themselves down will be grouped into the term ****** with others in my mind.

If you want to look at other races, look at Indians. While they don't have the same history as blacks, they were under British control until the 40's. I have worked for an Indian and so has my dad. For the most part Indians are very determined hard workers. Working for an Indian introduced me to a lot of other Indian business owners. It wouldn't surprise me if Indians have the highest percentage of business ownership compared to any other race.

 

Bullshit, the state would save money AND alleviate violence by simply giving addicts their drugs, rather than paying police to arrest them. Not to mention providing them with shelter and food for X years. But that is a discussion for another day.

What do the personal financial statuses of Obama and Oprah have to do with it? I'm Italian/Irish and my family's been on foodstamps in the past; is my poverty invalid because people like bill gates and steve jobs are rolling in money?

Deference programs used by courts have only been around for ~10-20 years. If you can find me a legitimate source showing that first time offenders charged with possession of a coke, H, or crystal do not return after being deferred to a treatment center, I'll consider your argument.

As long as we live in a free society based on capitalism, there will be a lower class.
