Yeah, and they can make jet liners crash too, like the one in San Fransisco. Snowden probably won't make it to Venezuela. Dooms day, dooms day! The antichrist is running the government! They're out to kill us all!

The reason why I'm now in support of all this tyranny and letting Darwin give this his best shot is clearly demonstrated in this thread. ie: "shut up and stop looking for the antichrist".. "You conspiracy theorist".. "Watch out of the hell fire missles" etc.

Regardless of it being here on the Internet or face to face... The negationism coming from the consumer slobs is unreal.

No one is really concerned about whether or not any goverment should be allowed to have this sort of power.
There's more concern if their GPS is still going to be accurate and how reliable is the stop theft feature.

    Lol(sorta)

I was about to post links to Michael Hastings' case.

    Good point, well made.

What worries me is that the tech companies are all owned by the same financial institutions that essentially own the governments and definitely own the defence and media.

Why are we surprised Google et al are passing our information over to the state security services? Google is owned by the same bankers that own the state that own the information that own the cars that own the computers... etc.

    Ach. Damn world. :(

Sure...I'm sure it is/will be possible.

There were no other cars involved so perhaps this is an e.g - but I have no idea what the Mercedes C250 Coupé has with regards to computer software 'controlling' it's steering, brakes, engine etc.

That's right. They'll be hacking the car coming the other direction! (So don't be driving the Marlin when they come for you, it's too nice to let them wreck.)

    :p

My future husband and his wife just gave me a present of a 1973 Mk3.

The seats are really worn out and makes some noises. But it's a free car and it's not without its charm. And after reading the article I find a sort of comfort in knowing that it's "cyber hacker safe." I mean I drive wearing a niqab and I could just see the media going bonkers to promote Islamphobia the moment I got into an accident.

The electrical parts are obsolete, can't get points, coils, and what not.
sure you can convert them but then there's always the problem of emissions.

With the increase in the price of metals, cars are being crushed at an incredible rate. It's hard to even find 70's car parts in a junk yard these days:(

Yeah but I meant more than just a movement of consumers restoring cars. I mean companies starting up that have the capital to manufacture replacement parts and what not.

Maybe I just like old cars and not thinking realistically.

I didn't say there would be. You wasn't that clear. So, you are entering into a polygamous marriage?

No I'm entering into a *polygynous* marriage
Obviously the men in the video are amateurs. I'm sure someone working for the state would have everything they need including training to do it in minutes.

Still how many times does the average person leave and not drive their car for several days? So yes even a pratt could possible ruin your life.

The answer to that is the following:

    That older cars:

    1. Aren't as fuel efficient at the pump (probably matters to everyone but probably older drivers watching their wallet especially)

    2. They aren't compatible with the latest gadgets (kinda important to younger people, it's also what you get laid in so if it isn't classy...just saying)

    3. Restoring older cars is/can be expensive, and parts can be hard to find

    ---

You're forgetting that mom-pop shops can't compete with the economies of scale, that bigger companies reach with mechanical automation and outsourcing jobs in parts manufacturing to countries like China and India.

Again this results in a high sticker price to restore a car, that doesn't make sense to most average people when looking to buy a new car or restore and old one (with the added stress of finding parts should it break).
