But just picking up the animal welfare issue, sorry but thats a rather bizarre reason to boycott Sochi.

1stly, they are effectively "wild dogs" ie mostly descendants of strays.
2nd did you know that American killed 2.7 MILLION stray dogs and cats last yr! (Acc to the American Humane Society, I believe).
3rd, Britain's main charity, the RSPCA actually kills vast numbers of healthy dogs, unbeknown to its donors.
Russia usually lets its un-owned dogs live, unlike Britain, the US etc etc.
Sochi it appears was different, after taking international advice.

The whole anti-Sochi routine in certain media, looks like the Cold War, if a spastic had been running the Western media.

The writer (an Aussie) says:-

He describes himself as "totally blown away with this place".

And the "criminalising being gay" claims are really tedious. Homosexuality is not illegal in Russia. Acc to a British author, there is a huge "gay scene" in Russia, where anyone ADULT is free to join in. Kids in Russia are taught about sex as procreation and as part of a family life. They aren't taught "how to give a good blowjob" or "where to buy cowboy chaps or a gimp mask". Nor are do people attempt to seduce them into any particular sexual lifestyle such as exhibitionism, sadomasochism or crossdressing etc.
Its exactly as most people in the west believe should be the case. THAT is what the Russian law is about. CHildren shouldn't be targetted by particular groups for the purposes of formulating ANY type of sexual preferences or desires. Thats why you don't sell porn vids to 12 yr olds etc! Or suggest to kids that sex is public "is really cool". Its a sensible interpretation of a principle that the West has always followed... until some sort of Liber-nazi Mafia took over.

Once again, Fox News needs to look at itself before attmepting lame efforts at propaganda. And I bet they don't report on the NY Waldorf Astoria when it fucks up and fails to deliver hot water!

I'm ok with motorsports but I think it deserves it's own designation..."motorsports"...not to be compared to sports where the motor comes from within your own body. Snowmobiles are not even remotely comparable to skis or snowboards. And...yes...I'm well aware of the debate over it. Simple solution....One sport uses an engine...one doesn't....hence the term "Motorsport".

 

WTF was up with pink panther figure skating tonight. That outfit was HORRIBLE. I know I'm focusing on the wrong thing but the color was so distracting it was hard to watch her skate. I was forced to watch it at the in laws.

 

I saw the beginning of that performance and it was loud but looked like a good team. But them I got tied up with something else and missed how that ended.

 

They skated really well but I didn't pay attention to any scores. I was so distracted by the color. I think when the scores were being read I was discussing how that color shouldn't exist in the world. My mother in law said its the color of Pepto and many people need that to exist. I told her they can make Pepto any color. That's how I missed the scores....that, and I didn't really care.

The russian pair kind of shat over everyone else though, rather one sided.

 

The womens half pipe; there only seemed to be three competitors that were any good.

It was kind of really lame to watch, most that qualified for the semi final, 7th to 12th in the qual rounds did so , having fallen, not really doing any tricks or even getting above the lip

 

Sorry for being a smart ass, Yes I know the USA is not the only country there. But our track record of medal winners coming home and finding trouble gets easier and easier every four years.

Id rather watch grass grow! Its the most worthless winter Olympics I have ever seen. Its not dangerous this time, Its a deathtrap. I like carnage, Nothing better than to watch people buckle and rag doll a hill, But when you can even attempt the runs slow and not go down, Plain stupidity! I hope more back out and or have good luck and stay on their feet.

this really is turning into a gay olympics. saw a commercial where a skier was picking out music and he said for cross country skiing he plays classical for downhill he plays faster music and when he jumps the ramp....then you hear the music, its a guy singing "excuse me while i kiss this guy."
