You're a little late to the party lol. I started cleaning about a week ago. When my roommate moved in I guess? I don't really have an obscene amount of 'stuff' I just don't have enough room to stash it all lol. Of course, a lot of my brother's stuff is still here (in complete disarray, I might add) from when he moved out. Plus odds and ends, trinkets and hardware stuff that doesn't quite have a home yet. I feel like I'm almost trying to impress her by doing all these manly things that a man should do to keep things up to par around the house. LOL I don't know. What I do know is that things are gonna be looking nice around here... regardless of the condition of parts of the house...

Finally have the dishes down to a bare minimum and keeping up with them
Got rid of all the expired canned goods and cleaned up the food/toiletries/pantry area?
Turned the front room with the big window into a room of zen
Threw away all the bottles of soaps and stuff that weren't being used... and half-assly cleaned the tub lol

Next is to clean up the entry room and organize and clean the garage. THAT'LL be loads of fun.

Sounds like you're doing a great job at getting things organized. Dishes are the most annoying! Honestly, some days I feel like I do dishes 4 - 5 times, but I have to to stay on top of things. We have a super tiny kitchen, so even just a few dirty dishes make it feel cluttered and dirty.

I've actually donated 2 bags of stuff, and threw away probably 6 bags of crap (old papers, ect).

I think the new roommate will really appreciate all the work you are putting into the house. Oh, and one thing that works really well on grotty bathtubs is oven cleaner. It gets the dirt up right away. Just make sure you wear rubber gloves and rinse the tub out really well afterwords.

I don't like clutter, I feel it messes with my head, so I have to get rid of stuff all the time.
Especially make up and skin care things (for example I have about 9 perfumes atm, so I need to start getting rid of those, no matter how hard it is lol).
However, I tend to buy a lot of paintings and porcelain (like plates and stuff) :D
I can't hang all the paintings though, so I'm saving them for better days, I guess.
Oh and I hate those little trinkets and porcelain figurines and whatnot.

But I never get rid of books.

I have a lot of books...I've gotten rid of a few of them over the years, because I don't see the point in keeping books that I have not and will not read. I always keep the ones I read though, and have a little stack of books I am planning on reading. I love books. I will never stop loving books.

    Hello,

I don't have much stuff. Maybe a few radios more than I need. But I've less than ten, so it's not that extreme. And books, that's what makes moving a bitch. Most of the boxes I need for moving are full (or half full because of the weight) with books.

A couple of years ago I tried to get rid of a few maths (for economists) books. Nobody wanted them, even after I bundled them with a bag of gummy bears. Someone asked for the gummy bears... without the books...

    Regards

    Hello,

I have a lot of books that I won't give away, such as the book I'm reading at the moment. It's about the transmitter site near the city of Nauen and it's printed around 1920. I wouldn't say it's a collector's item, but it's a bit rare. Many other books, like the Sherlock Holmes collection I bought last week, are just stacks of paper to me. The strange thing is that I don't give them away either.

    Regards

I just like to keep the books I read. It is like they are a part of me or something. All my textbooks from college I have gotten rid of, although I do regret getting rid of them, because there have been times where I've wanted to look something up. Although now a days, one can just go to google if they want to look something up.

    Hello,

I traded some of the books, I needed to buy for uni, for red wine ;). That way the next generation students got cheap books and I got cheap wine ;).

I've read all the Sherlock Holmes stories, I have them around somewhere. I also have an old set of Edgar Alan Poe's work, 1904, 1st edition. Unfortunately I'm missing two volumes.

    Hello,

I thought I'm old enough now to read all Sherlock Holmes stories ;). Regarding the two missing volumes, maybe you can create automated searches at that internet auction platform and a few antiquarian bookshops. With time and a bit of luck the two missing volumes might find their way to your home without the need to give your youngest for them ;).

Once I get all the dishes done, I'm cleaning them right after I use one. No more counter full of dishes. Like my mom and dad's house, JEEZ! Half the time they don't even rinse and scrub their dishes so they get all nasty and they procrastinate on em and get flies n stuff :ack2:

That reminds me, I was gonna look up something to get rid of soap scum. The glass doors on the tub here are just coated with grime. I got most of the nasty stuff off with window/surface cleaner (which sucks compared to just regular window cleaner at the dollar store. Streaky bs...), but it's still all cloudy, rough and nasty. Gotta clean the grout and tub still. But shiiit...

    DO WORK SON!! :D
