For hundreds of years the scumbag 'nasty party' have wrapped themselves in the flag and professed to be 'empire loyalists' and 'little englanders'. Boris, by his arrogance, ignorance and incompetence seems to be proving otherwise !!!

Theresa May's former advisor accuses government of 'shocking failure' in Brexit talks

Theresa May's former chief of staff has accused the government of a "pretty shocking failure" over the Brexit negotiations.

Lord Gavin Barwell, who was the former prime minister's aide throughout her talks with Brussels, said the delay in securing an agreement was harming British and European business interests.

With time rapidly running out before the transition period concludes at the end of the month, negotiators Lord David Frost and Michel Barnier will meet in a last-ditch attempt to resolve the remaining issues.

Lord Barwell said he believes a deal on a post-Brexit trade agreement is "definitely still possible", although it will rely on whether or not both sides are "prepared to make the compromises necessary".

"Both sides are going to have to compromise if we're going to get a deal from this situation," He told BBC Breakfast.

He added: "We are now 25 days from the end of the transition period and business, both in the UK and in Europe, have no idea on what terms they're going to be able to trade with their nearest market from January 1.

"That is a pretty shocking failure."

Lord Barwell also criticised the government for its behaviour over the controversial Internal Market Bill, adding it ultimately made negotiations regarding the future role of the European Court of Justice "much more difficult than it would otherwise have been".

He continued: "I completely understand why the government is determined to avoid the jurisdiction of the European court, but on the other side, the way the government has behaved over the Internal Market Bill has clearly strengthened the view on the European side that they need to make sure there's a robust process there where they can retaliate if the UK doesn't stand by the commitments that it made.

"I think it was a real mistake of the government to go down that road."

On Saturday, Boris Johnson and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen held an hour-long phone call in which they agreed on a final push to get an agreement.

In a joint statement following their call, Mr Johnson and Ms von der Leyen acknowledged "significant differences" remained on the key issues of fishing rights, competition rules and the governance arrangements for any deal.

"Both sides underlined that no agreement is feasible if these issues are not resolved," they said.

"Whilst recognising the seriousness of these differences, we agreed that a further effort should be undertaken by our negotiating teams to assess whether they can be resolved.

"We are therefore instructing our chief negotiators to reconvene tomorrow in Brussels. We will speak again on Monday evening."

Put simply, 'Fuck them', they're our fish in our waters, we'll keep them and they can keep their migrants. I notice this woman once again is a German, now it all seems to be about Germany wanting to rule Europe, something they failed to acheive with two major wars, so now they are doing it by stealth. My relatives, as did a lot of other peoples, fought and quite often gave their lives to prevent us being effectively a part of Germany, no doubt they'd be turning in their graves with all that is going on.
Looking at it it seems that the whole issue is about us not surrendering to the EU they want fishing rights, access to our fishing grounds for one thing, they want us to still be bound by the European Rights garbage, in other words we can't lock people up for the length of time we want to, it has to be agreed with the EU, why? The offender has commited the offence in our country and should therefore be punished according to our laws, not those of the EU.
Look at some of the other countries, places like Poland, commit an offence and you can expect to get a decent spell inside, yet that same offence is committed over here and we cannot give the sentence we want. I remember a case where a bloke was given an indeterninate sentence for a very serious offence, he went to the European court and they ruled that our judges couldn't give an 'open ended ' sentence, as it was unfair to the offender! What a crock of shite, unfair to the offender, what about the victims of the offender, iirc he was a serial rapist. If you break the law in any country then you should expect to be punished according to the law in that country, not go running to the EU, as I said, fuck them!

Sigh (again) - the instance you cite, is that the man went to The European Court of Human Rights - this has nothing to do with the EUROPEAN UNION whatsoever. The European Court of Human Rights will still adjudicate on matters referred to it, notwithstanding we are no longer part of the European Union.

well we should tell them to sod off too, it's our country and we should be able to deal with our criminals as we want to, if it was up to me I would bring back the death penalty, this is our country and nobody should tell us how to run it, can you imagine going to Russia and telling them how to deal with their criminals, yeah right.

Ignorance is such bliss isn't it.

As I indicated above, the European Court of Human Rights is NOT, Repeat NOT the European Union, and anyone aggrieved by the actions of our government and our court system, still has the RIGHT to apply (if appropriate) to the European court of Human Rights, irrespective of whether we are or we are not members of the European Union !!!
