Only 18 days to go, and those job losses can't be replaced in that short time, and given that the economy is going down instead of up, its unlikely to happen anytime this year !!!

Job losses in the manufacturing sector here in the past three years have little or nothing to do with the EU.

Thank goodness that on this forum there is more ‘free speech’ than one gets on others.
I feel I can talk a bit ‘straighter’ here as I am not one for beating around the bush.

    Mind you.
    Thinking about it.
That could depend on what kind of bush it is!

I can see you are in a silly mood today Irm.
    Still.
If it keeps you away from depression, then I am happy to see you in that mode.

You're jumping to conclusions though. Britain was an important member for the other west european countries which have shared interests and concerns. Their position in the EU is weakened without the UK in it. Besides, a lot of rules, deals and agreements were made in a particular way, that depended partly on the UK being an EU member, and if a country leaves that costs a lot of changing, time, effort and money. Now, considering a lot of both Brits and other european citizens are actually quite unsure getting out will bring the UK what their brexit leaders are promising, and it guaranteedly costing a lot of money, time and effort to sort this all out, this seems the primary reason. More so than that the rest of the EU is sad and disgruntled they can't leech of the UK anymore :p

You hit the nail on the head Asmo, in they wont be able to touch our money any more and that's the bit that hurts them the most, our money will be there no more.

Well-said. We have a similar problem over here with the UN, who's budget we're expected to pay 25% of, even though we only have 1% of the vote. In addition, nearly every other nation represented there tends to consistently vote against us. I'd like to see the whole plaza emptied, collapsed, and our membership withdrawn. Those folks that work there can move elsewhere, and most of us will be just fine without them.

I must have worded it wrong if it gets taken that way. To be clear: the reason the other countries didn't want the UK out (it seems a lot more Europeans are more ok with it now) is because of the difficulties it causes, like I explained. Not because their countries (or the EU in general) were supposedly leeching on the UK and wanted to continue that as you and Barry seem to wanna conclude.
