yeah its a result of doing absolutely nothing for 9 years! it is crazy to look at up close. it sux though cuz we live in a somewhat conservative place and so him and i are always getting gawked at!!!! its sooooo annoying! kids are always yelling out..."mom look at that guys hair!" and parents are always shushing their kids when were around. I guess its kinda funny....just gets old after awhile
^^Isn't it comfy to rest your head on? Though I seem to remember saying he had a stinky dread problem?
I like congos if the locks are long, say at least to the shoulder blades. My hubby and I both have skinny locks right now, but we are in the process of encouraging some nice thick congos.
^^ Thank you Although I would let them congo more if we weren't together, I'm not about to throw my toys out of the pram just because she doesn't like fatter dreads. I am a big believer in compromising, otherwise I don't think we would have been together for so long.
Me thinks its time for a new girlfriend. Mandyland, that's a bit much for me. Not because of how it looks, but it must be awfully difficult to get that clean and dry.
yes it is hard for them to stay clean and dry! Thats why I haaaaaate it! When that sucka's wet it smells like dog shit!!!! Bwaaaah! Ive made different herbal treatments for him to clean it with but he just doesnt seem to care! i cant vent anywhere else but here about it too! hmmmm.... merri i like and respect your ability to compromise with your woman about your dreads! i fear if i say how i truly feel about his that he'll despise me forever! I wouldnt mind the congo so much if he just kept it clean and smelling pretty! Maybe Ill just stuff lavendar in his dread when he's sleeping!
Don't get me wrong, I love my dreads how they are now, I would probably just neglect them more if she didn't hate fat dreads so much. I can't say that if I was to let them congo more that I would end up liking it, I might hate it, I don't know, probably never will know either.
I don't care for them much. My man has one with 3 tips and I think its cute, but huge ones .. I'm not the biggest fan of :/ I think it all comes down to taste. My man likes people when they only have about 6 dreads on their entire head, and i prefer ones with a nice thickness but still have a good amount of locks.
Really? There are 2 kids at my school that have them, I have talked to them once or twice but they are not in my grade or anything soooo...
Well maybe because I am old! Nope havent seen ANY, not that Virginia does not have any dreadies...think they are up north or closer to the coast maybe. But I am in a hick town full of hillbillies....
I see lots of dreadheads when I go to the nearest city, hippy-ville, erm I mean Nelson, and at music festivals. But hubby and I are the only dreadheads in the small redneck town we live in.
merrivale, i love congos. my man doesnt rip his dreads and he has some really sweet ones which i think look awesome. i only have a couple myself but i want to encourage more. i understand compromising though, and in your position i would probably do the same. you have lovely locks already, so it cant be too big of a compromise. mandy, your mans dreads are sick! i like the way they look and you should post more pics. too bad about how hard it is to keep clean though. for the record, before i got dreads, i didnt like congos. i remember seeing a guy on the ferry with what i thought were perfect locks (even, no frizz, round tips) but he had one flat congo at the back and i thought it was gross. i wondered why he had let his otherwise awesome dreads be ruined lol. i dont know when my attitude changed, but when i made my first set of locks i made them fat. i have uber thick hair and i only had 19 locks. i remember someone (a guy i was totally crushing on) comment on the thickness and tell me they were going to take forever to dry. i was like w/e i dont care! so i an sort of understand her viewpoint (though i cant imagine what i was thinking before when i hated congos)and think if she had dreads she might see it differently.
