because I'd been barefoot in this little food market many times and never had a problem. Didn't have one this time, neither. IN the store. As I got out of my car, barefoot and shorts, a woman around my age (none o' yer...) sang out, "Bare feet! That's not good!!" and half-smiled. As I was wearing a mask, I was already socially and verbally distanced, and I said nothing and proceeded into the store. Freedom of information is one thing. Freedom of opinion is a bitch.
Years ago as I was walking into a convenience store barefoot a woman came out and she had a cigarette dangling out of her mouth. She noticed my bare feet and said "You're going to hurt yourself that way." I told her I didn't think so and that I was sure she was going to hurt herself much more smoking those cigarettes than I would ever would by being barefoot.
When did it become commonplace that people began believing that everyone welcomes someone else's unsought opinion? Doesn't ordinary courtesy suggest keeping your yap shut???
