Meh, people seem to being particularly nasty to this guy. Come on guys, everyone wants to be able to define themselves as something special or out of the ordinary.
I take the risk of beind ridiculed when I put my ideas on an open forum like this. I don't care. This is the internet. Everyone is out for the lulz. Thank you for thinking of me though.
It isn't "magic." That's your word, which you use to sarcastically denigrate the idea without offering any actual rationale. Just because you've never experienced it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Get your head out of...oops, I almost said something unkind. But if I had, the tone would have matched yours, wouldn't it? Perhaps we could keep the discussion on the level of polite and charitable rationality instead of on the level of emotional coercion via terminology such as "bullshit," which implies that anybody who doesn't happen to believe what we believe is obviously just stupid. In other words, if you want us to believe you know better than we do, you might want to reconsider your approach - and your attitude.
i think of psychic abilities kind of like this. i think it's the sixth sense that we all have and just dont realize it. it's simply the spectrum of emotions just like there are a spectrum of sounds, sights, feels. Facial expressions and body language are guidelines to learning or building up that sixth sense, along with intellect, clarity, etc. so ya ok the op has empath abilities but we all do. to an extent. and its not magic. i do the same thing when people-watching at the mall or something.
thanks for the advice but im no crusader. i could honestly care less what people believe. i've had my fair share of 'psychic' experiences, but i still don't believe in it. it's simply not rational. if my conversational style upsets you, thats not my intention. it's just how i am. but im sure you already knew that
I never seek to encourage belief, it is a substitute for knowledge. I seek to encourage investigation. All of our experiences are psychic, being interpretations of stimuli choreographed by the mind. There are no idle thoughts.
What you believe filters your "knowledge." For example, if you believe there's no such thing as a free lunch, and therefore it's a waste of time to even consider the possibility of a free lunch, you will tend to miss or even dismiss any signs offering free lunches or people talking about free lunches.
If THAT's true, then what prompted this: So you think it's rational to dismiss what you see because it conflicts with your beliefs? Or maybe what you're really saying is that you've found non-psychic explanations for what SEEM to be psychic experiences? So fine - but here's the issue stuck in my craw: How did you arrive at the conclusion that belief in psychic experiences is not rational? Yeah, I see how you are. The point isn't whether or not I'm upset (I'm not), it's that you express your opinion in a way that screams, "I'm right without a doubt and you're stupid to believe as you do." Saying that's "how i am" is a cop out. If I can learn to interact more effectively with people (which I have, to some extent), I believe you can, too. But maybe I'm wrong!!!
"No idle thoughts" - yeah, that's good. It's amazing what you might find stirring around in your mind if you start trying to really pay attention. The difficulty - and also, I think, a major key to increasing psychic experience - is just that: Learning to really pay attention. Reminds me of the line from the ancient Beatles song: "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see."
Grr, my browser is not cooperating.. It hasn't posted about ten responses to this thread.. I'm about to start pulling my hair..
no, what im saying is i cant explain it. i can't put mysterious labels on things i dont understand. i dont fully understand how a radio works, but i dont claim that it's mystical and psychic because i can't explain it. and as far as 'beliefs' go, you guys are the ones with 'beliefs'. im just an avid doubter do i really need to spell it out for you? psychic experiences can not be replicated and verified by anyone but those that believe in it. can you set up a scientific study with a group of psychics and come up with convinving empirical data that can be peer reviewed? if so, then i'll look further into 'psychic' ability. thanks for the life lesson, but tiptoeing around people and their widdle feelings is a poor communication method and it doesn't get the point across. i'd rather people remember what i say because im brash and say what i mean than forget what i say because i dont have the balls to call somebody out when they post something silly and contradictory to reality.
This is my thread. If you don't have anything nice and constructive to say, please leave. All you have done is shit on the people here. So please take your science elsewhere. It is not needed here.
