Important: \im-ˈpȯr-tənt, especially Southern & New England -tənt, -dənt\ Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English importante, from Medieval Latin important-, importans, present participle of importare to signify — more at import Date: 15th century 1: marked by or indicative of significant worth or consequence : valuable in content or relationship 2obsolete : importunate , urgent 3: giving evidence of a feeling of self-importance I guess maybe cause "nothing" has no significant worth or consequence, valuable in content or relationship
"Nothing" has no significant worth or consequence? I think you need to think that through very carefully. This universe is largely built on nothing
well yeah sorta kinda in some way I'm sure.... a black hole is as close to nothing as we got in the universe....and you can't even see it
On the contrary, most of the universe is nothing; a pure vacuum. Zooming down to the building blocks of matter, over 99% of atoms are empty space.
The word nothing implies that there is nothing to matter, making nothing matter is like saying.. I dunno.. republicans suck! Like you saying it turned the thought into matter, cause then after you said it somebody would either agree or disagree and then a meaningful discussion or a good fight may break out and then vua la you have a matter on your hands. But either way we all know that we all have opinions, mainly grades of the same view and one opinion doesn't matter more than the next and it doesn't change the fact that all that shit can be dropped by the letting loose of some big soft titties, am I right or am I wrong or do you give a fuck or could it be none of the above? :-D
We are not the ones who decide what is important and what is not. I guess I understand why so many people get confused with this part of philosophy. We hear a few wise words and apply a generalized interpretation to our own philosophy when we should've taken the time to fully understand the concept for ourselves. Many people get hung up on these next two statements... We create our own reality Reality is an illusion I would agree that we have the ability to create our own reality but let's not forget that we are bound by the laws of the universe. We learn how reality works through our own karma as we experience the consequences of our actions and creative beliefs. We may think something is important until we suffer the consequence of wasting our time. Some of the ways that you can prioritize your life will cause you much grief no matter what you think about it and this is because karma knows more about what is important than you do until you agree with karma. We are experiencing life and that much is very real, whether or not what we are perceiving is actually there when we are not experiencing it is irrelevant. You have a life to live and it would not be wise to downplay or discredit how real this experience is. We have creative influence as we work with reality Our experience of reality is real To suggest that you're not bound by the same natural laws as everyone else or that you do not suffer consequence like everyone else is not only foolish but psychotic. There is that which binds and connects us all and as much as we are all unique we are all very much the same. We coexists in this dimension and we have much in common. Be careful how you understand these concepts or you might have to learn the hard way. Humble yourself and admit that you are part of something bigger than yourself.
Not the direction I would have gone in...space is still something. Nothing is what the universe is not
I'll repeat, every single quark in the universe is the most important thing in the universe. There is nothing which is not important.
As long as you understand where you priorities came from, which is your mind, for it's own reasons That's why not every person on the world has the same priorities, but rather every person has their own unique set. Your priorities are just your preferences for what to take seriously, I don't see how it's any deeper than that. The real message of the universe is that anything can be your priority, so it is deeply empowering and freeing.
That's why some people wind up homeless crackhead's while others wind up healthy and warm. Some people have millions and millions of dollars but with no one who truly loves them while others are surrounded by loved ones with just enough money to get by and provide for the family. This is because although we can prioritize however we choose, what is important is not really up to us and we may have to find that one out the hard way! Mr. writer: are you really this self-centered and egotistical?, do you really think it's all up to you? Do you honestly believe that life is whatever you want to be and that the laws of the universe do not apply to you?... OR are you just taking this standpoint for the sake of argument?
i think that what matters is a problem of perception in false misconceptions about what matters. but what truly matters does not vary. fleeting pleasures do not matter, what your peers think of you does not matter, however being truly alive does matter. i am talking about all of those little things that sum up one's stress, those little quirks that everyone has that really just don't have any positive bearing in a persons life.
yea fight club is actually one of the reasons that i made this thread. the part where the main charachter says about his illusioned friend: 'tyler has this amazing ability to let the things that dont matter really slide'
