John wants to wait until she is four but cleaning her piercing when she is 4 she won't want to sit still! He won't be mad if I do it I would just like it if he came to see it!

They pierced my ears when I was a few months old. It's not a big deal.

Hah. Good luck even getting a 4 year old to sit still to get then pierced. She will be at risk for tearing her lobe if she wiggles too much.

I know.. Lemme send you a pic of Calleigh Ann with her new earrings, you will be convinced. ;)

    To be honest,
I think that even though most women do get their ears pierced, I think they should have the right to be able to choose for themselves.

And anyway, there really is hardly any pain, so why not just let her do it in her own time?

I feel the same about christenings too, let them choose when they have a conscious choice.

Its just a piercing. If she chooses not to use earrings, she may. Its not like it changes your ears and its visible from any distance.
I agree on the christening thing.

Not to mention the holes will close if she doesn't wear earrings, so it's reversible.
I wouldn't have minded if my parents had done mine young, but I wasn't allowed to have pierced ears until I was 15.

they dont always close up, I had a friend who didnt wear earrings for years and they never closed up.

I'm just saying that if I had had them done when I was young, I would be pretty pissed off, because no one has a right to do anything to my body without my consent.

That surprises me, that her holes didn't close. If I don't wear earrings for awhile I can tell mine want to close. My mom said it's because they make smaller holes now, piercing with the earring instead of the larger needles they were using when she got hers done back in the day.

ah right, yh this lady was in her 40s or 50s when i spoke to her.

i sometimes dont wear earrings for a while and they dont close up either, i guess it depends on the person.

i was 4 or so when i got my ears pierced. i don't really see anything wrong with piercing a baby's ears. most girls like earrings, and if they don't the holes will close up without a trace.

i like getting pierced, too. i have ten piercings, 5 of which are stretched. i'm addicted. though i am almost done with all the projects i began, just one more stretch to do and a bit of healing on a couple.

My mom waited until I asked for them, I was two. I cried and my mom and the lady that pierced my ears had to hold me down to pierce my left ear after piercing the right.

I made the decision when my daughter was born, despite so many people saying how adorable she would look with her ears pierced (and you wouldn't believe the pressure I'd get to have her get it done for crying out loud, people going so far as to buy her actual earrings as gifts and dropping hints about her getting her ears pierced!), to wait until she decided she wanted them herself.

She likes the look of earrings, but she says she still doesn't want them pierced yet. She's 5 years old.

I had my ears pierced when I was around 2 years old I believe. I didn't ask for them, my mother simply took me to get it done, thought it would look cute.

Personally, I'm happy with my decision to allow her to decide if and when she's ready. :)
