...that is, threads with a clever use of the word 'chat' in the title

Are just a way of members doing a Random Thoughts type thread, without having to go into the Random Thoughts forum, or admitting they want to

yes and half of the people in the stoner one dont even smoke pot. Maybe i should start posting in the soner one, ive been getting triggered in random thoughts, i dont wanna have to rally up my fellow feminist and social justice warriors

I mostly just click on the "View New Content" button. Then it tells me there is no new content. Then I click it again and see if there are any interesting threads on the first page.

I sometimes check individual forums, but that's more rare. We used to have a forum favorites feature, which made checking individual forums much easier

I tend to avoid chat rooms and chat threads, (in general, not just HF) since most on-line drama tends to happen there
