    The RX drugs that are considered "safe" during pregnancy are still far more dangerous than marijuana. Even Tylenol is more dangerous than marijuana. Poem~girl, you have no idea what you are talking about.

    As a social worker who has spent eight years working directly with drug addicted babies and their mamas I can tell you that the only thing you have to fear from using pot during your pregnancy is the US government. Unless you smoke it. Smoking ANYTHING can reduce the amount of oxygen your baby gets and thus reduce their birth weight. That part of what has been said is true. But if you eat it, brew a tea with it, suck on it, anything other than smoking it, there is no harm. I have held heroin addicted babies who were so doped up on paragoric and phenobarbital that they couldn't keep their eyes open. I have tried to sooth a crack baby who couldn't even be held because all the little nerve endings in their tiny body feels like it is on fire until they got through the withdrawal. I've swaddled FAS babies who will never be able to live alone or take care of themselves because of the alcohol their mama drank. (And yes, sometimes one drink can be too much.) And I have played with happy healthy beautiful little babies whose mamas smoked pot during their pregnancy. The only thing wrong with these babies is the damn government getting too invovled in their mamas' lives.

    Government influences are just too much any more. This is not a free country. It's free as long as you follow all the rules and don't forget to say thank you when the government screws you over. Forced immunizations that don't work and can cause all kinds of medical problems. Interferring with mamas who use the only known safe thing for morning sickness. Forcing young men and now women to give their lives for someone else's oil. Mandatory minimums where a person can be sentenced to 99 years in prison for a little pot. But a cop can shoot a guy 56 times and walk away. Dictating what we do and when we do it. It's got to stop. But as long as we have empty headed shrubs running the country, it's not going to.

    Do your research folks and stop trying to rip people apart who just might know a bit more than you do.

    i do actually;
    don't judge me and say i don't when i know what i am talking about;
    -analgesics (more than an occasional ASA or ibuprofen)
    -antibiotics (particularly tetracyclines and strepomycim)
    -Anticonculsants (such as dilantin)
    -anticoagulants (used to thin blood; such as coumadin)
    antidepressants
    antihistamines
    antihypertensives (used to treat high blood pressure)
    antineoplastic drugs (used to treat cancers and some forms of arthiritis; such as Methotrexate)
    antiviral agents
    hormones(such as diethylstilbesterol (DES) and progestrin
    large doses of vitamin A ( in excess of 10,000 IU ) this includes some acne treatments such as accutane and Retin A
    Thyroid and antithyroid drugs
    ARE ALL potientally teratogentic Medications

    "some" street drugs cause severe malformations such as missing or malformed limbs or facial features (cocaine) herion

    Saunas
    Heating blankets pesticides insecticides, decongestants ..

    I know what i'm talking about... just because i don't have children perse doesn't mean i don't know my work.

    Okay, I go back to my original statement. Some people just have minds that are too closed to listen to anyone else. Whatever you learn in your little college class I'm sure is a lot more knowledgeable than 8 years on the job experience. I don't have anything more to say on this subject.

    PG, all you've cited until now as your experience is a "child development class" you said you are *currently* taking. Because of this, you immediately assumed that you knew much more than everyone else on this thread, without actually citing your sources most of the time. I think everyone responded perfectly reasonably when you equated pregnant women treating themselves with cannabis to attempted murder, crack, cocaine, and heroin abuse. Ask anyone reputable, anywhere, and they will tell you that marijuana ranks nowhere near those substances.

    Goodness gracious! It is very apparent to me who here has real knowledge, and who here takes what they are fed and swallows whole to later regurgitate in the face of people who haven't taken the same swallowing path.

    The maturity, or lack thereof, is clearly evident in the words of certain posters. A person can claim education up and down the street all day, but when they can't string together one sentence in a way that even remotely represents intelligence or eloquence, I wouldn't be quick to trust the "information" that they shout so loudly and so rudely.

    Vegan Girl... If you are still around to read any of this, I wish you the very best. Here are some of the things that I think CAN be assumed about you....

    I think you will be a great mom, with a very healthy baby. If you are vegan, that goes to show that you have made a huge lifestyle choice in the favor of health and wellness, and are willing to make sacrifices for the better.

    I think you are smart, aware and brave. You put yourself out there on the line to ask a question concerning the health of your baby, from people who might know better than you. That was taking the chance of having to realize that you might be wrong, and might have to sacrifice something you love. Your willingness to do so speaks volumes.

    Remember that there are people here who care, people here who won't judge you, people here who would love to know how your pregnancy is going. As good as these forums are, you can't escape all of the obtuse, small minded, closed-hearted people in the world... But you sure as hell can put them in their place... Off of your mind. :) Hope to see you back around.
