ha i first decided to only smoke when drinking, and then just stopped all together, i've stopped and started a few times, but i dont ever feel the 'need' for em an cut back to 10 or so just for saturday and try and make another 10 last the week.

but yeah - when you feel like you need to smoke, just play with your hair =p

Just wanted to chime in on the whole Febreze thing...The ingredients are water, alcohol, a corn-based odor eliminator and fragrance. So, it's not really a 'bunch of chemicals' after all. It can't be that harsh, since people use it on all kinds of fabrics. Probably not the safest thing to use on smelly locs, but not likely to be harmful as a short term solution.

I wash at least once a week and start the day with a few sprays from a mix of essential oils and moisturizers (including lavender, rosemary and tea tree with a little aloe) that I keep in a pocket sized spray bottle.

I've been reading some things online today about how some people hate on dreads because either they think they look unkempt or dirty or they met someone who had stinky dreads. I am really doing my best to dispel those misconceptions by keeping mine clean, neat and smelling good!

My locks smell like hair... sometimes they smell like whatever river or beach I just swam in, but the rest of the time baking soda doesn't leave any scent.

I almost forgot, I smoke a fair amount of spliffs each day and I've never really notice a problem. I spell it more on my hands than in my hair. But yea... baking soda is rad, and after a little while you can wash your hairs more often as long as you make sure to thoroughly dry them!

Febreeze causes a fair number of scent issues for people.
Homemade, without the "fragrance" chems and mystery corn concoction, is far better.

I didn't know that, drumminmama...thanks for the 4-1-1. I'll look and see if I can find a homemade alternative.
