boothy, I know a lot of folks who get shows off the internet (there are a lot of sites), but I am not too sophisticated that way, so I copy live discs from friends, with the bands' blessings, and most of those are awesome. I can dl mp3's but I'm really retarded with doing anything more than listening. all the techies can flame me now lol.

names, drumminmama? thinking of your sig I can tell you in May Jeff Austin played with Chris Castino from the Big Wu, and Ryan from Stealin Strings (wisconsin) sat in on the mandolin, it was an afternoon show at BWFR (Big Wu Family reunion) really sweet bluegrass flavored music. I like moments like that. saw Green Lemon a few times this year, I like them and think they are from boulder (?) but could be wrong.

have you heard the Last Bus (also from colorado I'm pretty sure). great stuff.

    OK,

    My recomends:

The Hair - they are really good imo

Superfly - the local clash i guess (both these and the hair are form my local area)

Tom Cook & Will Cook had a band... whats the name... damn...

The Martins 4 - some great guitar going on here, Martin Carthy, Juan Martin, ring any bells anyone?

I'll get some more soon :)

Jeff and Chris play on Songs from the Tin Shed.
I have seen the name Green Lemon...worth my time?
Jeff & Victoria are now Boulder, but YMSB still bills as a Nederland band.

"I have seen the name Green Lemon...worth my time?" up to you, mama. :)

I am really liking Green Lemon, personal taste anyway.

just was reminded of a link I have http://www.geocities.com/marblesnet/

great link... if you click on the buttons you are linked to a lot of great music.

Lately I am a huge fan of trampled by turtles (duluth MN) and stealin strings (didn't even check if SS is on that link but they are stealinstrings.com) they jam really well in their home state of Wisconsin, at other venues they fare pretty well too. really nice people too, as is TBT (turtles) and Fat Maw Rooney, also from Wisconsin.

Yeah, I love Martin Carthy's stuff. Especially with Steeleye Span.

I do go to small gigs now and then, but I don't know what to recommend. The bands that are worth to recommend aren't really unknown anymore in their genre anyway. But when they play in the Netherlands they perform most of the time in pretty small clubs.

I used to see new bands (and a few old) at a club in my neigborhood called Curley Coffee. Got to know the owner pretty well and most of the regulars, then it closed...sad
