I agree. I hate that double standard. If a guy sleeps with a bunch of women, no one thinks anything of it. If a woman does the same, shes labeled a slut. I also hate how men will gladly sleep with a "slut", but then (without a trace of irony) say things like "I love sluts but I don't respect them; I'll have sex with them but i'm not going to respect or take seriously a woman that sleeps around." What makes that guy deserving of respect anymore than that woman? On second reading, I guess they don't. So, you feel both men and women who have what you deem slutty sexual encounters degrade themselves. And, women who don't degrade themselves hold sexual power over men, whether those men degrade themselves or not. Is that it? I guess those statements do not contradict...though, there is a double-standard in favor of your gender. Edit: And, certainly a prejudice against personal choices. I dont really feel the need to deem anything as "slutty" or not. i actually hate the label. Im only using it here because thats what the thread is about. I regret saying a woman who degrades herself is a slut because i think thats a stupid label. I was just referring to women that do things because they feel like men want them to, not because they want to. I also dont think that "slutty" sexual encounters is what degrades a person. I strongly believe in the concept of the free-spirit. people are free to do as they choose. I define self-degradation as doing something that compromises your principles, morals, and desires just to gain acceptance from someone. I dont think men generally degrade themselves sexually because men are fairly simplistic about sex. If they want to have sex, they have it (if they can find a female to cooperate). Women are far more complicated. There are a lot of women that fuck around not because they enjoy it, but because they feel like the have to, or they're seeking some kind of male attention. Women do not, generally, fuck like men. There is frequently some kind of complicated emotion wrapped up in a woman's sex life. Of course, then there are women who can have random sex and enjoy it for the pure physicality of it. These women are not degrading themselves, they are reaching out and grabbing exactly what they want. As far as women using sexuality to wield power over men, I dont necessarily mean through the act of having sex. I also dont mean by abstaining from sex. Its hard for me to explain this concept to men. Every woman I make that point to gets it immediately, every guy gets a little baffled. You see, you guys are easily affected by a woman's sexuality, and by sexuality I mean everything about a woman..her voice, her lips, her eyes and the many different looks she can send a man, the way she moves her body, swings her hips...etc etc. A woman can use all of these things to manipulate men quite easily. I personally don't enjoy manipulating men, but if I were so inclined it would be a piece of cake. The only reason I even bring up a power struggle is because the majority of the world's societies have been patriarchal societies. most of these succeed by repressing female sexuality. A society in which women feel free to use their sexuality at their own disposal (and not at a man's disposal) could be completely controlled by women. I don't personally want this to happen. I think men and women should be helpmates and equals. However, I do think that if women learned to utilize their sexuality for control purposes, they could succeed much in the same way that men have succeeded for thousands of years by repressing female sexuality. sorry I probably just got a little too deep into it for this thread lol.
