As long as race is deemed an important demographic, then skin color matters as an indicator of race.

When the fuck are humans going to get over the damn race issue!!! It pissed me off, we have all been on this planet years and years and years, I think it's time we all get over it and move on with our lives. I wouldn't be surprised if that lady got her ass kicked as soon as she got off the train and set her kid down...if not then, then she probably will eventually after people see this. This lady is a sorry excuse for a human being. She is not even worth the energy of screaming at her. I feel sooooo bad for her little kid :(

of course skin colour still matters. always will. its psychology, man.

freud and lacan went on about the mirror phase, a time in the life of a very young child when he or she takes great, almost hypnotic, pleasure in looking at a mirror. this is because we suffer from a crisis of identity, although we can look down and see our bodies, as far as we know, we may as well be a pair of eyes on stalks from the neck up. by looking at images of human beings we gain an understanding of ourselves in relation to the world around us, this is why the mirror phase is so important to our development.

However, we also understand the world through the creation of binary oppositions, we understand hot because we understand cold, big and small, happy and sad etc. one cannot exist without the other. combined with the "mirror phase" tendency towards self understanding through vision, we understand that we are, for example:

white because we are not black
straight because we are not gay
male because we are not female

    and so on.

the tendency then, is to naturally notice this "difference" first which in turn means that we often see the individual as part of a group, rather than an individual in their own right. we create stereotypes and ascribe them to members of these groups in order to re-assure ourselves that WE do not embody those stereotypes. the negative stereotypes always say more about the accuser than the accused, generally arising from fear of one's own subconscious and repressed desires. (it is, for example, scientifically proven that homophobia is strongest and most violent in men proven to have strong homosexual tendencies, who are in denial of this fact) this is the root cause of racism, sexism and homophobia.

these problems are engendered by a divided or segregated society, where people are looked at and examined from a safe distance, but never directly communicated with. the only cure for these things is experience.

my point is that racism isn't something that is easily consigned to the past because it arises from psychological tendencies inherent within us all. you can't really combat them merely by "being open minded" or "laid back". the fight against racism homophobia and sexism is not a passive act. it is a CONSTANT struggle for the individual to understand this essential part of human psychology and to try and overcome it for the greater good of everyone in the world. the only cures are recognition, experience and dialogue between groups.

    anyway, yeah.

    That woman's a bitch.

Irony is,that humans began in Africa a few million years ago, spread out over the globe and adjusted physically to the surroundings in which they settled. That's one aspect of the big picture. Another aspect is that a certain amount of humans haven't been able to master critical thinking in any way at all. Consequently, these attitudes remain.

If you enjoy speaking your mind you should expect others to speak theirs, free speech protects the speech you hate - embrace it! [IMG]

That woman is just a hateful bitch.

I personally couldn't understand a word she said, so I have no idea if she was hatin' on black people or asians or what the fuck, but people like that will hate anything different from them. Simply because she's a shitty person with a shitty outlook on life. If it wasn't black people (or whatever ethnicity she's running her mouth about) it would be something else; poor people or fat people or liberals or anyone different from her.

Sometimes the problem isn't racism, sometimes the problem is simply that some people have serious issues.

She was later arrested and spent a short time in a holding cell; I’m guessing if she took that attitude in jail there wouldn’t be much left to release [IMG]
