Uncrossing them (in a short dress) provides good cardio for the guys in the office... in theory. You know I would never do such a thing. I've moved my home office upstairs, so I go up and down the stairs a lot on days when I work from home. Also, my office (both locations) is set up so that I can't just roll my chair to all the file cabinets. I'm trying to get in the habit of standing up and walking around a little during nearly every phone call. Every little thing like that helps.
A nurse at my ob-gyn office told me you should walk 5 minutes for every 30 minutes you sit. My boss would kill me if i just left my desk every 30 minutes, but i do try to get up and stretch every so often.
i used to do it when i lived with my parents. we had some trees with low hanging branches, so i would just set the mower to a low speed and walk behind it when going under those trees. of course, that doesn't work so well if you have a pedal driven mower instead of a lever. and nowadays you have to disable that stupid switch that shuts off the engine as soon as you take your weight off the seat.
I try and get up several times per hour at work. My job, thankfully, is a good mix of walking and sitting. I have a hard time focusing if I have to sit for more than 30 minutes, uninterrupted. I make a point to move around a lot both at work and home, and get my heart rate elevated several times per day.

I like the graphic that says "sitting increases your risk of death up to 40%".....I figure we all have a 100% chance of death.
i agree!! we humans are not made to sit on a chair. it is a very unnatural position. always make sure your hips and legs are at the same height. all natural tribes still dont use any chairs. watch them how they sit
also being to INactive and not pushing oneself physically too many people watch life as opposed to participating actively good points
