But do today's Christians not discriminate (on a large basis) peoples from the Middle East? Jesus was MiddleEastern and probably looked a lot more like Osama bin Laden than Ted Neeley.

A lot of music is sucked up - not necessarily disgraced, but people don't understand the history of a lot of music.

    A lot of other things...

Just gunna post this really quick (idk how relevant it is but w/e) before I go to bed. Sometimes, I feel like racism is perpetuated by people (this goes for any and all sides of the fence) making generalizations about race. I think if everyone started viewing people as individuals and quit seeing people as "belonging" to a certain group the whole notion of race would be dissolved. After all racial boundaries are awfully foggy and I know lots of sociologists and anthropologist who would argue race doesn't exist at all. I'm not saying we should ignore the notion that racism exists, but maybe a better approach to dissolving racism would be educating people why racism exists how it gets perpetuated so on and so forth instead of going on about how bad blacks have it and how spoiled today's whites are. Teaching and understanding history is important but we should use history to end racism, not perpetuate it by blaming modern people for things they had no control over... again rambling rambling rambling.

I don't know what this thread is about anymore.... I'm tired and I don't remember what I just posted. I think it was just random words strewn into a sentence which I won't be held accountable for. ;)

.... Idk if they descriminate or not. I wont go there. He probably didnt look like either, since it was 2000 years ago. I can bet he wasnt pale as a ghost. But then again, who cares, no one knows anyway.

Music sucked up? How is that? You mean some white people enjoy rap music???

And believe me white people who like rap probably know as much, if not more history then TODAYS artists. comeon Soulja Boy??? Most artist theses days have no similaritys to the original rap besides somewhat similar beats, therefore they are the ones who sucked it up and are a discrace. Where do you see white people doing this?

Shit. NWA? Talking about opression and racism. Today rap artists talk about gettin money and fucking bitches, selling drugs, killing people, ECT.

and once i agree with NP, what are we arguing about?

(Is a little off-topic but I enjoy discussing this stuff :))

No doubt there needs to be a different way of teaching it. The problem is that no one wants to teach it because the ones that have the ability to change curriculum in schools benefit from having an oppressed lower class.

Sitting back and letting racism occur isn't doing your part in fighting it - in fact THAT is what is perpetuating racism. "Evil prevails when good men do nothing"

As far as how that relates to white rastafarians? Well...it is the white Rastas' ignorance to the beliefs of Rasta - a religion primarily created to liberate and empower blacks. Now, I don't have anything against white Rasta - I just don't understand how a white living in America, paying taxes, and potentially voting can honestly and truly believe they are Rasta, being that America is often looked upon as being the embodiment of Babylon.

If you are white, and claim Rasta, you aren't doing anything to fight Babylon...you are simply degrading the religion by giving off the impression to less-informed people that Rastafarianism is just slang for being a pothead.

    :)

Deffinatley. I dont know why racism exists. I am not racist. I cant see how people are racist, unless they were treated poorly by another race, and have a grudge.

Maby this is how some of todays blacks are? I really dont know. I dont know many black people.

Alot of people who are racist, it seems they dont have any good reason for it. Just ignorance....

A lot of people that aren't racist are ignorant, too. Which is just as bad, as they have the opportunity and power to do something about it without really going out of their way, they are just too lazy or don't care enough about others to do so...

What is wrong with my signature? What is wrong with my avatar?

You tell me that I am playing the race card too much - but being white I can't be in association with African Americans? This is the same "give-take" personality that keeps minorities in their "place".

No, I'm just saying there is more to the problem of racism than just blatant racists...there are people that stand by and do nothing that are just as much of the problem.
