The Aussies are second to nobody when it comes to fundamental research in electronics, but they might as well be working for DARPA and its impossible to say how much of this kind of thing is pure misdirection spouted by the two governments. The simple truth is, there are half a dozen well known different approaches being taken to producing a scalable quantum computer, and the truly mysterious thing is that nobody has heard back from any of them yet. There are rumors that scientists were also shocked when conducting neurological research, and everything suddenly went very quiet. They will not be able to maintain the silence much longer, so be prepared for the crap to hit the fan, because reality is nothing like these idiots think it is, quantum mechanics have already proven fundamental to the functioning of the human brain, and they are likely to stall for time until they sort their cookies out.

My guess, is they've encountered the quantum observer effect, which they conveniently attempted to ignore for about fifty years.
