We're just pointing out you didn't know what you were judging. That's a different thing as personal taste. No use for calling us hypocrites, man.
no... i don't go blowing up at someone who goes "WTF.. i hate country music" "this is bluegrass.. you don't know what you're fucking talking about!!!"
HAHAHAHA Electronic music is electronic music is electronic music... Slayer and Radiohead sound very different, but at their roots both are rock. That being said, spongle is techno. I dont play the whole sub-genre game... my mind is much to simple for that.
Well the next time im in my local record store.. i look for the fusion of psychedelic genres lumped into one with time signature changes, melodic overtones and crawling basslines; interesting polyphonic textures section.. that's right by the country music.. yea?
thanks for the mimicing! my brief summing up of shpongle was not for the popular mind; apologies for having to read in to what i was saying to understand. but if you've studied music, it wasn't senseless. see, i didn't try to DEFINE the genre. it was simply my analysis. but they're not techno by a long shot. only single track minds who care not for the depths of intelligently produced music would come to that conclusion. but hell, if you wanna close your minds off to the fact the content of shpongle is so much more than your average techno artist; so be it. with flute playing which isn't synthesised as well as elements of different music from around the world blended in (etc. etc); calling them techno is pig ignorant, regarding the detail in each track. they may have evolved from techno, but they've only expanded on what once was.. so far, in fact, it's like listening to a different genre of music altogether. especially now with the live band element. now that's very techno.. have none of you heard Hallucinogen?! simon posford's original psytrance name. if anything, shpongle's expanded on hallucinogen and evolved from psytrance. not techno.
and anyone who says psytrance and techno is the same thing blatantly obviously need their fuckin' heads testing.
Whatever dude, Shpongle live is a full six piece band with instruments, not just a guy behind a sound desk. And actually, the two main guys behind Shpongle have been involved in folk and psychedelic rock back as far as the 60s/70s. Their samples are all made by themselves, Kraftwerk stylee, not nicked off other peoples music- Simon Posford plays most of the guitars and bass on the albums, Raja Ram plays flute and percussion. The sleevenotes on all the albums have a shitload of guests playing instruments if they're not playing them themselves so I was just saying it's not techno. I'm not bashing you because you don't like it but because you came across quite ignorant to what actually goes into their records and live show, dismissing it all as something which it actually isn't. In all honesty I'm not a massive fan of their stuff after the last album though I bought it and it did have some good tracks, go and listen to Richie Hawtin's old stuff, Speedy J, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Luke Slater etc and then tell me Shpongle is techno. It's not subgenre fascism it's fact. Without techno there would be no psytrance.. Psytrance nazis are just as boring as ones from other genres- believe me, I know enough of them...
Aye, but then you understand that bread is the fundamental building block. Toast is just messing about with it a bit. Personally I like bread and toast. Also jam and marmite and peanut butter and orange juice and chinese food, pizza and indian food, thai, nepalese, french, turkish, lebanese and all sorts. If you eat the same shit all the time you don't have a healthy diet
that's a very good point, so take into account different forms of bread - croissants, meat loaf, sultana bread - and you get a nice variation that evolved from the original fundamental loaf of bread. each a delicacy in themselves, to be enjoyed individually. garlic bread is a development on the initial bread, and referring to it as 'bread' is a bit unspecific - you need to specify what type of bread you're talking about so people understand because there's a whole world of bread beyond that first loaf. beans on toast.
oh my fuckin god.. a simple misunderstanding of a bands genre and this is what comes of it? maybe you guys should post in the music forum with the rest of the elitists
Innit. Beans on anything is rank though Personally I've recently been getting into my loafstep, baguettecore, bootybread, acidbloomers, white-sliced-tech and wholemeal house. :cheers2:
