I don't really know other modern rock than Tool that would fit your bill . . . try dipping into some earlier decades, you'll thank yourself
well thats what ive been doing. weve been listening to hendrix, zeplin, dead, pink floyd, etc. and thats all good and all, but i like listening to things i dont know
theres a lot more psych out there than those well known bands. there are psych bands from the 60's that put those bands to shame. Do yourself a favor and look up the nuggets collections.
I have been looking for black moth for a while can i dl it from you id love you forever if so my soulseek name is nightonthesun
animal collective is ultra psychedelic and if you pay attention to what they say its even more amazing
Ok man, there is tons of really psychedelic modern rock these days! I will only name the ones I think if you like modern rock and the more defined bands of psychedelic rock (like the Airplane, Doors, Jimi Hendrix) you will love. Hold on and try to find this stuff First ones I recommend if you like the more heavy modern rock like Tool are bands like Nebula (albums: Charged, Let it burn), Greenleaf (best album: Revolution rock), 500 ft of Pipe (not around anymore unfortunately, but they were great. Check out Dope deal), Asteroid (their splitalbum with Blowback and their selftitled album are pretty good). Siena Root is a band that rocks in a classic way. Heard some people say songs like Good and bad reminds them of Led Zeppelin and stuff. I'm not sure about that, but check out their album Kaleidoscope, it's awesome! Especially Bhairavi Dhun. I'm also in love with Dead Man, not as heavy as general the bands above them are, but really good rock with some very good psychedelic tracks like Deep forest green and The wheel. Further is great too, and not psychedelic but very awesome are Highway and Going over the hill. Well just check 'em out I guess! Ok, except for Siena Root and Dead man, above bands generally are considerd stoner rock. Don't let that tag hold you off though, they don't sound like Kyuss, Monster Magnet or Queens of the stone age. Orange Sunshine is a good one, check out songs like Ruler of the universe (actually a cover of an obscure sixties psych rock band) and their album Homo Erectus. Those are the most psychedelic. Another one that have been named various times on these forums but not yet in this thread is of course Earthless. They have two very groovy albums that definately will space you out. More bands that will space you out like that are The Outskirts of Infinity, and Endless Boogie (check out their album Focus level, it's from 2008, I just found it myself and it totally blew me away). Definately look it up!! Tia Carrera is awesome as well. Try their Heaven and hell album first. Uhmm well, I could go on but I guess I first stop here, haha. If you like bands like Ozric Tentacles, there is much more to check out though. And also in the heavy psych department, so just try this out and tell us which ones you like! If you can't find some of this stuff, I'm also at soulseek. Name: asmodean. Just give me a message and I get you going!
Seasick - A local band from NYC, but should be famous like woah. A review of the band I think summed it up pretty good, what if Jim Morrison had been a woman and the doors less bluesey Jennifer Gentle - A psychedelic band from Italy, but I mean they named themself after someone in a song off Piper at the Gates of Dawn, you know they're good.
I like MGMT quite a bit, that would be my second favorite song only behind The Youth. I heard from a friend they had a shitty show at Lolla which bums me out for him since I think they rock.
He's not new but check out Robin Trower if you haven't, songs like: Caledonia Confessin' midnight Alethea Too Rolling Stoned To name a few, there's loads more, he is hendrixesque, it's arguable who is better, really, some of you are already thinking: bullshit. Check him out.
Deftones aren't really psychedelic, but if you've ever listened to White Pony while trippin', you'll know why they're fuckin' great. I think I see what you're goin' for. Check out, A Perfect Circle Filter Smashing Pumpkins Nine Inch Nails 10 Years
after watching Waynes World.. i find it tough to take her seriously.. i dunno.. that's just me PS: no i am not singling you out from previous threads.. you just happened to post it
