Should women have the right to go topless in the same environments that guys are?

Most women that I know are. I am. The only clothing that really helps me in warm weather is a bra or corset. I'm large-chested, and dangling free makes my back hurt. I need support.

I actually like corsets better, but that's me.

I will admit that a lot of guys should not go "topless" either.

Sounds like what you need is for a man you love to stand behind you, "holding you up"....

That's one of my husband's favorite hobbies, actually. He's a very supportive mate.

Some equality, please, if we're going to be restricting rights in any direction. Men don't get shirts either.

I think that there should be no law. I mean, I kind of think it's strange how humans have evolved to think it's weird to not wear clothing, when really clothes just keep us warm.
Although, I doubt many women would stop wearing shirts.

The concept of modesty/decency as regards the body is very deeply rooted in society, and it's not going to go in a hurry.
Most people would fight tooth and nail against such an idea, just about everywhere in the world, bar a few isolated groups.

Also, paranoia over perceived perverts is on the rise too, which adds another damper towards sensible thinking on these fronts.

I'm not a perceived pervert, I'm actually very comfortable and open about it.

New Here...*waves* Hey Everyone. So this is my first reply to any post.

This is an interesting topic and the reason I am choosing to reply to it is because it more or less correlates with what is being discussed in my Ethics class.

I honestly do believe that if men are allowed to go topless than women should as well. With that said, I do believe that unless America as a whole begins to open their mind a little and make laws that are not so deeply rooted in religious morality that simple things like this will never be accepted.

Governments should create and pass laws for the good of the people they represent. A lot of laws that are created are self perpetuated. In this example, women shouldn't be allowed to go topless because it will cause males (little boys to men) to be consumed with lust and will then lose all concept of what's right and wrong and be inspired to commit heinous acts of rape and incest. We as a country are brainwashing ourselves to see breasts and nude females are things of sensuality and sexuality. Because of this brainwashing, any time we see females nude we think of the sensuality and sexuality of the object before us. Most all of us attended some form of church and have been told that lust is one of the seven deadly sins. That sex is between man and woman, husband and wife and since we are seeing this image outside the bedroom and it is not our wife, then it is taboo. If it is taboo than it is wrong.

As a man, I can honestly say that seeing a boob in public is going to cause me to focus my attention to that boob. My wife would do the same thing.

We have centuries of brainwashing to over come. I think we are a lot closer than we were a hundred years ago. I think we are moving in the right direction.

    Welcome aboard!

HA! Government "should" do "what"? ROFL! Damn that's funny! Any more hilarious jokes?

Then exactly what do you suppose God made naked women for? We love them naked, and they love us men naked. We love each other naked. Even if we don't have sex, the normal attraction is there.

Unlike a few thousand years ago when we were wearing bear skins.

Now, just for comparison, have two attractive women stand together naked. One shaved and the other with her hair all grown out. (my ex could put Sasquatch to shame, trust me!). With the conditions changed, the sexual attraction changes.

Lots of things are taboo and forbidden. But not only do our "leaders" ignore such standards, but sadly so do our spiritual leaders. This is something that would be interesting to debate in ethics class. "Morality in 21st century leadership".

If seeing boobs turns you on, you'll love the next session in the House of Representatives....

So many boobs, so little time. Damn. :mickey:

I think they should. There will be places where everyone should be covered up out of respect or practicality of course.

i'm going to be 100% honest here. I'd rather see almost any topless female than the fat, hairy, dunlop bellies that i see barechested everyday. If it's not ok for a woman to bare her breasts, then it should not be ok for men to do it. Period!

I think that anywhere it is appropriate for a man to go topless; beach, park, swimming pool, etc. it should also be ok for women to go topless as well.

If that was true I would actually go outside.

Yes. Such a silly convention when you really think about it.
