the essential nature of labor is misunterstood by many of the posters above it is not to put a roof over your head, nor to put food in your mouth labor is designed to bring wealth to your employer your roof and food are merely leftovers
Same situation here in California, although it seems every year the employer is given more rights and protections than the employee. And with Welfare, the government constantly is trying to limit and erode it so that they can spend more on private contractors, who are exempt from most restrictions and liabilities. Prison labor has been a boon to big business. Every election cycle some politician tries to paint the poverty stricken as the bad guys. Seems no one ever considers the obscene profit margins many employers/corporations garner while screaming they can't afford to raise wages, provide benefits or assume liability for their products or services. In 1996 Welfare was totally reformed, and many restrictions were put in place that reduced eligibility, and increased the hoops people had to jump through to receive it, so actually the whole discussion is pretty much moot. Unless politicians are looking at this as a way to reallocate funds for their war machines.
Why would anyone want the goverment drug testing welfare recipients? There is no such thing as a drug test. Drugs can be cleared from the system with 3 or 4 days of abstenince. The targets will have that much notice. What we really have is a marijuana test because that stays in the system for 45 days +- Why would we want the goverment taking another expenditure, employing more bureracy and taking more powers than it already has? We need less goverment and goverment expenditure less goverment workers less goverment rules and regulations.
