a cheerful time for the pilgrims and Indians to share a meal together in the promised land. Oh, how I wish I could of been there, passing the turkey leg to the pilgrims and breaking the wishbone with Pocahontas..what a joyful occasion!
Ehh thanksgiving, yet another holiday I see absolutly no point in, after all shouldn't we be thankful for the things we have everyday of our lives?
My thoughts also. I hate that people post what they are thankful for every day of November on facebook. I made a comment this year about how annoying it is and they should make sure they are thankful all year long. This year I only have 1 person doing it. They got the hint. That being said I like Thanksgiving. I host 2 Thanksgiving dinners at my house on 2 different days. The first one I have about 35 people. The 2nd one I have closer to 45 people at my house. It's chaos but I love having family around.
I don't believe the Indians sat down and had a toikey dinner with the honkey's.....It just never happened that way.
We already had ours but if someone wants to invite me for a turkey dinner I would be willing to even wear red, white and blue....
It's my favorite holiday but it's not about 1621 its about turkey dinner, parades, and football....:2thumbsup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFRFmqOrax0"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFRFmqOrax0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SDvMtUCuM8"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SDvMtUCuM8 Hotwater
I think Thanksgiving is great. Hang out with people you love, have a big meal, watch the Lions lose, get drunk... good stuff.
not any longer when you can run down to the supermarket and get just about anything anytime of the year. Go back a couple hundred years or less, before the days of refrigeration and Thanksgiving was a completely different affair. People were damn thankful if they had a good season and harvested enough crops to last throughout the next 9 months. Harvest festivals and celebrations have been around ever since man began agriculture as a primary means of food, and with good reason. A bad harvest meant people were going to die. Today it no longer carries that import or essence and the gratitude for nature/God providing sustenance has been long lost on most people.
I think Thanksgiving was cancelled in my area...it appears all of the stores, radio stations, commercials, and grocers have just skipped right to Christmas..
Quite right man, quite right, guess I'll be learning about that sort of thankfulness if and when this new commune plan gets under way.
