Mainly though cause they saw no benefit out of it, especially back in the days when it took nearly a month to cross the ocean to help out a bunch of farmers with guns. But then we started winning some battles. And France never misses a chance to have a good ol war with Britain. Spain and the Netherlands also joined the war, and one could argue that was far more unilaterally, while we wanted their support, as we did with anyone's, they basically saw an opportunity once France was involved to try to take British possessions around the world. Basically no one ever intervenes be it uni or multilaterally without something to gain, be it 250 years ago or 25 minutes ago,
does that include the dialogue where blair had to persuade bush to talk to gadaffi after bush had claimed he would enter into no dialogue at all with the libyan regime (or any terrorist/part of the "axis of evil")? or do you think america wanted peaceful negotiations with libya right from the start?
The USA has done enough already. We have proven ourselves incapable of actually doing anything worthwhile around the world, even under the guise of "humanitarian aid". Basically, I'm not confident any more human interaction can be possible with the USA clear of giant egotistical self interests fucking it up worse. If we were "help" under any circumstance, I guarantee gas prices or the like would change.
Literally the US has never done anything good. Bosnia, Korea, WW2, WW1, humanitarian aid in Haiti, or South East Asia after the tsunami, Operation Upholding Freedom, sending the fleet into the Taiwan straits in the 90's to deter what seemed like imminent invasion of Taiwan by mainland China, liberating Kuwait in the first gulf war. Literally the US has never, ever done anything good, including the internet, hence this thread doesn't actually exist.
Maybe they've already intervened; though the people in the various groups of belonging have been out in the streets with their own distinct programs of action and responsible engagement. The police have allowed the rules to be flexible. The civil war is not official for the judgment is at the hands of irrespectable rather than moral authorities. There must be such action organizing. The U.S.A. may be involved though we don't know it.
aid the pro-democracy anti-gadaffi troops and protestors with everything but troops. they gotta fight their own revolution, but there are few black and white right and wrong conflicts left in the world. it'd be a shame if the dark side of the force won this one because we did nothing
Whenever a US leader or someone with major influence says the US must "liberate" and/or "aid" another country, I get a very sick feeling in my stomach.
No intervention in Libya, and bring home the troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and anywhere else they are stationed worldwide. American troops are for American soil!
Is that what they teach you over there. The WWW is generally given credit to Tim Lee(which by doing so also disregards all of his Belgian partner Robert Cailliau's hel), he created a system to make it public. Despite the fact these days they're almost indistinguishable the WWW =/= internet. The mechanics and applications for the internet were created in American labs over two decades before that and advanced over time. American government labs, OMG THE GOVERNMENT NEVER DOES ANYTHING GOOD, EVER.
Invented the Internet???? Al Gore said he did that, after having the movie Love Story made about him.
Tim Berners-Lee ... born and educated in england ... currently working for the british government ... and who happens to be.. British :mickey:
