Should Jesus be idolized and is that breaking the first commandment?

You ignore that that was confirmed by God in Gen 3.

    Your typical dishonest rendering.

Then your bible is ridiculous because that is what it says.
    You might try reading it.

Not to take sides but here is a verse that would seem to indicate God's unknowable nature.

    Isaiah 55 8-9
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways & My thoughts than your thoughts.

And I know that scriptureAnd agree that God’s ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. But my point is God is not completely Unknowable. There’s too much evidence in creation. Living matter does not come from nonliving matter. We can see that in our lives. The Bible gives an idea of what God’s personality is like and what he requires. He gives guidance and teaches.

    Romans 11: 33-34
Oh, the depth of the riches & wisdom & knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements & how inscrutable his ways!

"For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?"

By not stealing or lying we are showing obedience to God.

Do your own research since you do not seem to have ever read your bible.

Let me know if you cannot find a search engine.

I cannot do so. All I can do is give the facts.

If my better religion is to be accepted, it will be due to it's moral tenets and not the force that inquisitions and jihads that were useds against us.

There are a number of areas in scriptures that show us as inferior to God in thinking.

There are some that show the opposite but Christianity changed the elevation of Eden to our fall to try to hide that fact.

Christianity wants sheeple, not thinking people.

    What do these tell you?

    Gen3;22 Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil;

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Thanks for informing our friend, but now I will not know if he ever read his bible or not. Most Christians have not, that is how and why they remain Christians.

Would you take guidance from other genocidal characters like Hitler or Stalin, junior genocidal characters
as compared to God sure, but still of Yahweh's ilk?

One must be real to dictate anything.

All we have is the words of liars and those who believe them.

Actually, that is refuted by the lines that Gnostic Christianity uses to make it's case.

I have the lines in an explanation of why we call our God I am. You will have to suffer through that even if you are not a seeker.

Modern Gnostic Christians name our god "I am", and yes, we do mean ourselves.

You are your controller. I am mine. You represent and present whatever mind picture you have of your God or ideal human, and so do I.

The name "I Am" you might see as meaning something like, --- I think I have grown up thanks to having forced my apotheosis through Gnosis and meditation.

In Gnostic Christianity, we follow the Christian tradition that lazy Christians have forgotten that they are to do. That is, become brethren to Jesus.

That is why some say that the only good Christian is a Gnostic Christian.

Here is the real way to salvation that Jesus taught.

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Allan Watts explain those quotes in detail.

Joseph Campbell shows the same esoteric ecumenist idea in this link.

The bible just plainly says to put away the things of children. The supernatural and literal reading of myths.

Not burdensome yet impossible to follow as God made us with a sin nature that we cannot go against.

You forget that the laws you have coming from Christianity existed in the older religion for millennia before Jesus dribbled out of God and crawled into Mary.

Jesus was what, the 6th man born of a virgin?

Do you buy into that old adage of, --- for evil to grow, all good people need do is nothing?

Do you believe that we should all love Hitler? Should we respect and dignify him?
