I used to ride a bike... had several and ended up selling them but i have the urge lately to get another one... so freeing to ride around... I've passed through a number of states just cruising with nothing but my thoughts... so freeing... but winter is coming and now that I'm up north where there are seasons I'll probably only be able to get consistent rides in through October... I'm dying to pull the trigger but also feel like it may be smarter financially to wait...
The bike would probably be cheaper in the fall or winter. Just find the right guy whose wife is making him get rid of his. But if you have it sitting around it will just be more tempting.
Buy it in the winter and then ride in the spring. You live in upstate NY, right? The winters there are pretty brutal, from what I've seen. No use in buying now.
Yeah I'm upstate... and it'll definitely be tempting but I could always wait to register it until after the winter... which I feel is going to be a longgg winter
You could get about 1000 coats of wax on it before you get to ride it... You'll be keeping it in the livingroom, Right?
Ha ha yeah I have nobody to tell me not to... I just cleared out this big unattached barn/garage at the house I bought and it just feels like something is missing... I have my workbenches set up and my beer fridge and my truck... just need a nice two-wheeler to complete the space... I may have to go for it and salvage the fall
two wheels generally consume less gas then four. this is a good thing at all times of year. unless you live a long way from town or have a strong desire to, i see no advantage of a personal vehicle over public transportation though. perhaps there is some other concept involved, to me, something you can sit on, that moves under its own power, so you can go some place without tiring or soring your feet, is kind of the beginning, end and whole point. ideally, such an object should require minimal consumption of resources, and cause the minimal disruption to all and any thing else. for this reason, a solar powered narrow gauge railway, providing public transportation, would be the most preferable of all such methods, and for especially sensitive environments, an elevated, 'monorail' type system that would least disrupt migration routes. well my perspective might seem odd or unfamiliar, but these are my priorities, since the question was phraised as "should"?
Go for it. You can get some riding in before winter.. Or.. strap your sleeping bag on it and ride to Florida for the winter
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but aren't they cheaper in the winter? Seems like you might save a few bucks if you buy now and ride later. Unless you're rich and the saving money part doesn't mean much to you, in which case let me give you my mailing address...
lol I'm definitely not rich, especially since buying this house... but everyone seems to be in consensus that I'll save if I buy now... which wasn't the case out in Cali (at least from my experience) so it might both cater to my impulse to buy and to my financial gain to buy now, or soon... I won't ride yet and wait to insure it until the spring (which can also be a butt load of money)... so yeah maybe I'll start shopping around now then... which off the cuff is what I really want to do
