Should I get my eyesight checked?

I've been wearing the same glasses for about 3 years, and i'm wondering whether I need to maybe get a stronger pair. I don't want to strain my eyes by wearing the wrong prescription.

How often to most people find they need new glasses? I don't know, this is my first pair. Either way, I might as well get a new style every year because I can claim them on my medical insurance.

 

I went to the eyedoctor after about 7 years recently, and they insisted I would have a different prescription, yet I DID NOT

 

I get a new perscription every year I go to the eye doctor. My eyes are terrible and keep getting worse. If they keep getting worse at this rate, I'll be legally blind before I'm 30...

 

Yeah I worry about this. The eye doctor assured me with all his faith that I would absolutely have to keep on getting stronger prescriptions because my eyesight would inevitably get worse, but some behavioural optometerists believe that is a myth. Perhaps if I stick with the same one my eyes wont get worse.
