Are you sure?? I mean we could set aside a pay per view room, sell the space to watch and let then flame away. The last person standing with the best flame points wins and then it could be sent to Ebert for her to see there was a battle in her honor and thus let her know how important it all was??

A positive could be made from that negative, money for the site, and 2 people can vent thier wits worth and lastly a sort of battle gesture for the topic holder.

Actually there were no insults or jabs from me, it was further discussion regarding the feeling Erze had about being outed from the forums.

Peoples' frustration with the Erze/Mud situation has very much to do with Mudpuddles split personality and are valid points to this argument.


I think the guidelines around freespeech in this forum

are getting alittle constrictive.

You don't need to throw insults to argue. It's amazing how upset/angry/infuriated you can make someone simply by remaining calm...

I mean, I don't know you, but, can't you give it a break? I mean, you CAN edit posts and such, or just think about how your post will be taken before you press the submit button...

 

I never claim to be perfect. The two of you presented me with a vexing problem. Shining the verbal spotlight on another member's personality issues can hardly be looked upon as constructive. If you are the more stable personality then be the better person by disengaging from the drama. I could have closed or deleted the thread... or even more. I chose instead to prune much (not all) of the derailing posts, including a couple of my own. As I saw it, the direction things were going was less than constructive. I'm left with the choice of which wrong move to make because whatever I do it will be criticized by SOMEONE. Of course I could hide behind anonymity and be a coward about the whole thing but no, I'm a fool with scruples and I stand up to be questioned and accused of constricting your "free speech".

Keeping order can be tiresome when everybody has a different view of what responsible discussion is... it takes a tremendous amount of patience. Being put in a position to justify WHY I make the decisions I do has the effect of taxing that patience. Admittedly, through the route that I chose I put myself in that position. There are those who might favor a more constrictive course of action. Would you have preferred that? I'm trying to have some respect for the members sounding off on the topic of another's membership and participation here. Be happy I opted for the lesser of two evils.

 

Lesson for you... do NOT dignify what you feel to be a jab with a response. I'm trying to keep this thread open and you are simply trying.

You shouldn't rise to insults though. Arguing serves no real purpose. Neither online or offline. It serves only to make people even more sure of their original points, and creates tension and angryness, afterwards nothing changes, but that both sides look even less favourably on the other.

I atleast appreciate that Stinkfoot took the time to offer an explaination other than taking the "Im GOD" tactics as others have done in history. Having the information to use for the future is handy! You may not like it buts its better than some of the other options I believe!

Well maybe 1 person feels that way, not much to be unsure of there, seemed obvious, cant have everyone like a person or whatever. I would say the vote is still close enough, lets see what happens.
