No dumbasses, athletes foot is a fungus like mushrooms that like warm damp places like your foot inside a shoe. If it was from touching things you would get it on your hands all the time but you don't cause your hands are not covered up and kept damp and dark !
You can pick things up, like verrucas! That's why you have to be aware of foot hygiene! If you have a cut. Or splinters, then stand in dog crap! Your at risk of infection! That's not a dumbass reason to keep your foot hygiene up!
well, you do have to get the fungus from somewhere. i would guess the best way to get athlete's foot would be to go barefoot long enough to come into contact with the fungus, then put on your shoes and give it ideal growing conditions. i did manage to get athlete's foot over the summer, and i was not wearing shoes at all during that time.
Outside of this forum, I, a shoe person, if I ever owned a rats ass, would never give it to a person without shoes
Shoes are incubators for fungus. It's picked up elsewhere. Public showers, other standing water/permadamp. Iirc, one holistic practitioner was going on about soil microbes balancing out fungal overgrowth. That assumes the soil doesn't have unfriendly bacteria of its own.
I am not catching it, I stay out of locker rooms with the "athletes." Nasty places. I never understood those people that do the whole gym bag locker room and shower thing at the Gym , La fitness and all of them. You lifted weights or did cardio or both and got a little sweaty, you really are NOT "dirty" just go home and take a shower if you must.
a lot of people exercise either before work or during a break from work. their coworkers are glad they shower before returning.
I am not so sure about this, not only does modern deodorant work very well, except on the rare occasion people in the gym don't smell even if they are sweating buckets and really pushing it. I don't wear deodorant unless I need it, I have it at home and I have one in the trunk of the car in case stress sweating causes a problem but using it is not part of my routine. Triclosan The FDA has classified triclosan as a pesticide, yet it is in the majority of brand name deodorants. It’s used to kill bacteria in the manufacturing process, as well as when it comes in contact with your skin. http://organics.org/7-harmful-ingredients-in-your-deodorant/ I don't go around smelling bad, that is totally uncool so if I need to wear it I do but I don't put on globs of it every day, its as needed. I think all the showering at the gym is partly due to the billions of dollars worth of advertising by the makers personal hygiene products and sadly the pedophile gym coaches that wanted to see the boys all naked in the shower after gym class.
when I see someone with blackened souls from barefooting their life away I have never ever thought to myself....''gee that dude must get athletes foot constantly''...... never once...mostly I think...that dude misspelled ''poor'' on his pan handling sign not a huge barefoot culture where I live save for the street kids....last contingent of bare footers I saw was at a festival and I wondered to myself how these people negotiated the disgusting toilets that are at every festival? or the puke and debris littered fields in front of the stage... lastly...I fully admit my prejudice against bare footing any where but the beach lol
Funny cause one of the last times I actually wore shoes was at the Phish concert in Atlanta, not only the toilets but I did not want to have a drunk wearing boots stumbling and swaying stomp the shit out of my foot. What shoe people don't get, I know cause I was one, is that with a little practice and getting used to it you can negotiate almost any terrain and do almost any activity barefoot. It is funny as hell watching shoe people go barefoot in the beach parking lot, I am this big tough guy but ouch those little pebbles they hurt my soft little feetsies so much I can't walk and the ground is hot I am so helpless, weak and pathetic when I don't have my shoes on LOL !! Its so funny.
Totally sure, you throw away some tough guy shoe persons shoes and they are completely helpless, weak and pathetic can't even function soon as they step off the carpet like they are on that show "naked and afraid" OMG what do I do my soft tender little feet I might step on something oh no ! No shoes now all I can do is walk around like a little girl, the ground hurts and I might get a splinter. Don't look at my feet they are all whitish pink and pasty cause they only get direct sunlight a few times a year and my toe nails are all yellow and flaky from being damp and sweaty inside my shoes 17 hours a day and you don't want to be around when I take them off the smell.
Shoe hygiene? I'm a stick with shoes. Barefoot is about as practical an option where I live as bare everything, especially this time of year. And the best thing about shoes is if I happen to step on dog shit then (a) I don't get shit directly on my feet and (b) I can take my shoes off when I get home and then I don't get shit on my carpet.
come on brother....throw away some tough guys shoes?.....how does that work?.....by now everyone knows te health benefits of bare footing....i'm sorry though bro....it is still totally lame to show up to a social situation in bare feet.....that's why hippies get married on the beach...so their barefoot friends don't look like freaks.... lastly...ive seen the 90 year olds at the old folks home...of which I hope to be some day....none were bare footed said in fun
