Shock Collars

How do you guys feel about the shock collars that shock the dog whenever it barks.

I think they are absolutely horrible. My Dad was talking about getting one for the new dog we are getting and I am 100% against it.

Dogs are supposed to bark, it's what makes them dogs. Why would anyone give a device to an animal to punish them for communicating?

shock collars wont work on barking dogs..

use a sonic collar for that. puts out a "silent" tune when the dog is vocal, dont harm dog.

Shock collars that are under the control of a responsible owner are a useful tool.
Shock collars that are under automated control are counter productive. Automation cannot provide the level of situational awareness that proper discipline/training requires.

 

In my opinion the use of a shocks the sign of a lazy or inept dog owner.

 

I agree. Whenever our dog started barking, daddy would be all BEAU!!! ARGHHAGRAJGHGHAHHH and he'd quiet down or feel the wrath of the back hand >.<

 

I think they could be useful to silence some far right neo-fascists.

 

I think this is just the worst thing ever invented. Dogs are supposed to bark if there is a danger and such so shocking them when they do bark is probably the worst thing you can do not to mention you are inflicting pain on an animal which is cruelty. These things should really be banned and I am surprised they have not been yet.

 

If you don't want a dog that barks, buy a rabbit.

 

its no fun shocking a rabbit....birds on the other hand require much smaller shock collars and all their feathers stick out crazy like each time they get shocked

 

My dog was getting really out of control and we tried everything so we ended up at shock collar but I couldn't do it to him cause I love him more than I love me so I just deal with him now lol
