Last winter was hardly winter at all. I think we got 12 inches of snow the whole season. This year we had 12 inches before we got to January. This year is totally crazy. We have snow storms and temperatures 10-20F degrees for a week, then we get 3-4 days in the 50-60F range then back to the 20's for another week or so. We are heading into a 40F degree weekend.

Yup - around $400 for 100 gallons. I get a 5% discount if I pay within 10 days of delivery. Trouble is, we live in an old house with lousy insulation, so it leaks heat badly.

I suppose if I got smarter I might go out in the woods and cut some firewood to supplement the heating oil. Unfortunately I seem to be getting dumber instead.

Mitchell is wondering what kind of heater uses" heating" oil. We've never heard of it.
    Lol.

We also have an oil burning ("fuel oil" they call it) heater. Down here it costs about $360 to $400 for 100 gallons. All I know is this type of heat is something that is old, and it circulates water throughout the house (you can hear it) and heat comes out through radiators.

Periodically the radiators need to be bled.

Is this the type of heat you have, Zg?

I had never heard of it either before I move to New England. In California we had natural gas lines to our houses, and in Illinois we had an electric heat pump.

So to satisfy both Mitch's curiosity and mine, I excerpted a paragraph from Wikipedia about what heating oil is :D :

Yup Lynn, precisely. It's kind of like a centralized, distributed baseboard radiator system.

That's a ton of money to heat your house. Were lucky and have AC heat.

Yeah, our electric heat pump in Illinois was a lot cheaper than heating oil. And of course, in Texas it doesn't get nearly so cold for so long as it does here. It could only be that much worse up in Canada where BBAD is.

The radiators in this house stand up along one wall in each room about 2 1/2 ft. high, and the lengths vary. Even when it isn't really cold cold, we go through about 100 gallons a month in the winter months...and the thermostat is set precisely at 69 degrees, never varying.

Last winter we went up to 6 weeks without needing oil.

You're quite a ways south of here, where it's warmer. For the month of January we went through 200 gallons. I just ordered another half tank - 100 gallons. I suppose I might just as well order a full 200-gallon fill-up, but it just hurts too much to pay $800 in one swell foop.

Proofreading my wife's essays for her ministerial candidacy committee. In spite of my personal problems with her in our marriage, which are many, I hafta say that as a minister she's outstanding.

And hopefully she can be approved and ordained and get a position finally that pays decent money so we can start paying down our mountain of debt...

I'm glad we have a wood stove, its alot cheaper than running our gas furnace...We haven't had to fill our tank for a year and a half...But we did have a mild winter last year...

The house I grew up in, not far from where I live now, used fuel oil to heat. It fed our furnace and came out the same vents as the central air conditioning. We had the big tank out in the yard and the fuel truck would come by and fill it.

She has been peddling hope to the vulnerable for almost nothing, so far. And this has been for a few years now.

I have a lot of problems with my wife. But saying she's a fuckin vulture I will not do, cuz it is not the truth. She does what she does because she loves people and wants to help.

If she kept doing if for free tho, I would need to step in front of a train for the insurance money to feed my family.

And I will tell you somthing: If push came to shove, I would fuckin do it.

    Got it?

    More than you might think.

When I had my ankle surgery I still remember the extremely nice and comforting lady minister that came in the room before hand. I wasn't scared per se...but I was nervous. Her name was *** Golightly. (LOL :D We laughed about that for a while.) Anyway, I think she definitely served an excellent purpose in that position. I wasn't even nervous after talking (and yes, praying) with her.
