    I find this all entertaining. Almost every city in my country is well planned, clean, reasonably priced and just cultured enough to be interesting, and yet laid back enough that you can walk around in your flip flops and not be judged for it. And the weather is almost perfect.

    In the end what makes American cities boring is:

    1) the weather
    2) the unconscionable cost
    3) the overpolicing
    4) the "urban planning" (read yuppie boutiques)

    We are just a milder, less cultured version of that and are probably becoming more like the US all the time although we are usually 10-15 years behind which is good.

    I think the most ideal places to live would be anywhere along the South European coast, New Zealand or anywhere in the developing world that isn't ravaged by war or poverty - Malaysia would be nice I think.
