Shirley temple passes away she was 85 years old http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/12/a...k-screen-star-dies-at-85.html?hpw&rref=movies Rest In Peace
I saw that scroll across the bottom of cnn today and told my husband...he didn't even know she was still alive. Anyways, rip but at least she was a nice, old age. I didn't know she was an ambassador to a couple diff countries...
I don't know much about her other than her name. She is (was) quite famous, that's about all I know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now we just have to have the famous actor John Voight change his style to old and grumpy. He might be my neighbour. Just referring to the living and dead.
Shirley Temple was wonderful ... and she worked with some of the greatest of the first generation of screen performers. I just love this appraisal of her life ... even if it is now 25 years old!!! http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20100608,00.html
To add a little perspective, she was actually only two years older than Clint Eastwood But got famous earlier and seemed older cos she was in a few black and whites. Trippy
She was definitely a cultural phenom. In 1967 she ran for the House of Representatives as a Republican candidate in California but lost out to longtime Congressman Pete McCloskey. She ran on a platform that called for the continuation of the Viet Nam War.
♥ ♣ :sunny: I am sorry to hear that she passed on. ~ I absolutely loved Shirley Temple's childhood movies... those were the days when moves had great innocence and actors had real talent, and in depth emotional stories... they were then classically trained *real* actors in moves! Shirley Temple's childhood movies were an absolute delight! Just like so many movies of that era were! ♥ Remember the movie *HARVEY* the huge invisible {to most} White Rabbit, in which the endearing and very talented actor Fred MacMurray *Starred*? What about "The Shaggy Dog?" I LOVED the movie *Mary Poppins!* :daisy: ♥ In those days the movies were not all about constant sex and gory violence and horror and explosions and special effects! The actors were truly very talented "character actors" and had real *Presence!* No "special effects" were needed then at all to keep one glued to the screen! ♥ :grouphug: ♥ ♣ But, I am Extremely disappointed to hear that "Shirley Temple" in her real~life older years was politically a Republican who favoured and ran on a Platform Of *Continuing* The Horrific Vietnam War!!!
