For me, the self worth of a person has always been what's on the inside. What they are like as a person. Unfortunately, most in society put a huge amount of importance and focus on physical appearance, and use that to judge people in highly negative ways without even knowing them. When that involves anomalies of gender, then that judgement from people is even harsher. Hence why transsexuals and even someone like me are often the subject of scorn and ridicule from general society. It is a funny irony that most people find a connection between transvestitsm and homosexuality, (and transsexuals) when the truth is, that most transvestites are in fact, straight men, who have no gender identity issues. It totally doesnt surprise me that your "religious" family would have that attitude towards it. As they obviously feel like that about gays, and seeing as to them, no doubt transvestitsm is linked to homosexuality, then they would see you like that. I was reminded the other day how transgendered are viewed watching Ace Venture pet detective 1.
