I don't shave my legs right now, but I do shave pits and pubes. Those are two places that I can't stand hair. Sometimes (not recently) I shave my stomach and if I am really anti-body hair, I shave my arms. I do not like body hair and I am really surprised that I have kept my legs unshaven for over a month. I am waiting til April to shave my legs, maybe even May! I'll see how my opinion about body hair changes as I go... Peace & Love
I guess I'm one of few here, but I shave legs and pits regularly. I've shaved my arms once or twice, but just not my thing.
I do my legs and armpits regularly (I like the feeling of smooth skin), but I have never done my arms.
I haven't shaved in, shit, over a year. Before that I trimmed my beard very close with a beard trimmer (except the goatee and sideburns, which were long) because I hate razors/shaving, but last February I trimmed all of it down, and then let it grow on it's own, for a fully natural look. A year and a month later and my face couldn't be happier
Well, I quit shaving all together a couple weeks ago. No more support for the razor empire! Peace & Love
Good luck-guess after 2 weeks you haven't got much growth yet! I'm sure you'll get some hassle for not shaving + is probably most difficult for young women in teens/early 20's to buck trend. If you stay resolute I'm sure you'll enjoy the natural sensuality of your fuzz + you'll always find somebody who loves your natural self! I wish more women would ignore the razor/chemical industries who make big bucks out of women (+men)
Maybe I underestimated a little bit... I have more pit hair than my bf b/c he shaved it due to a hair test at the same time I stopped shaving. I stopped shaving my legs over a month ago, it just took me a while to stop shaving alltogether. Friday I bought Culture Jam and that really opened my eyes. Instead of just stopping shaving for the hell of it, I am going on a mission to spread the message that the hair removal industry is brainwashing this society into thinking that beauty = hairlessness. It's their propaganda for selling their hair removing products. Down with the stereotypes! Peace & Love
hippie chickie, your hair will most likely have a softer texture (and a dollop of conditioner every other shampoo will ensure this) than your bf. Also, once the hair is in a grow -fall cycle, rather than a grow shave cycle, the hairs will have their natural points and not a cut top. Like grass in the lawn. I do trim my pits with scisors on occasion to avoid the trapped hamsters look. Usually I hold my arms down and trim whatever is escaping. THis is usually less than 10 hairs. and a centemeter at best. I decided shaving was a waste of my time and energy in 1995 (the final decision, I'd been only shaving for appearances, job interviews mostly, for four years and was always inclined to let it all grow when under wraps. I think it took eight months before I felt the stubble was gone.
I did shave my pube's completely when I was a young teenager one time but I didn't care for the "pre-pubesent" look. I do keep my pubes well trimed and the balls get shaved on a regular basis. I do love the feeling of smooth balls. kerry
Playing at devil's advocating here. At least in a work situation, women aren't required to shave at all, provided that they dress somewhat like men, with no legs or underarms showing, assuming the environment is your typical office. That's long pants, or possibly a long skirt, and nothing sleeveless. It's only when women start insisting on female privileges (or curses) of showing the body that shaving becomes an issue. Then again, nobody has problems with men, hairy beasts that we are, going to the supermarket in shorts, and some might wear a tank top (not many, though). Whereas few women would willingly show natural legs or armpits, in any location.
