For years I depended on good diet, and exercise. Now that I am older, I find it harder to exercise, after knee surgery. I don't take any pain medication, unless the pain is severe. And I don't get enough exercise, any more, so I am trying natural medication for joint pain. A friend recommend Glucosamine HCI, but have seen no relief. I don't smoke and only drink lightly.
Glucosamine does not work overnight, I have been taking it for years...every day. My knee is a mess from hip replacement side effects and an infection (staph) from MD's needle and knee replacement is last thing I can bear to do to my body. Hip job did too much damage.... A friend said Glucosamine kept her walking and she made it to 95, no knee surgeries... Maybe Glucosamine works slower on operated knees, did you have a replacement? Now living with metal and plastic then for sure harder for stuff to work... It's all management.
I think a vegetarian diet has helped . It reduces the harmful fats that are often found in cheap cuts of red meat. I also work out regularly and reduced my weight by 6 stone . I do take supplements as well .
I eat vegetarian ,zero processed sugar ,3 piece of fresh fruit every morning for breakfast ,and stick to a diet of fruit ,veg , nuts ,and seeds ,which include regular consumption of chickpeas ,and lentils ,consume more water ,and reduce tea and coffee, and iff I want to snack in the evening ,I make fresh popcorn
Been cooking rice and beans more lately and eating vegetables more. Trying to avoid dairy a little bit more too. Plant milk is an easy substitute but cheese is everywhere and tasty but I’d like to eventually cut it out
Do some research. It is trans fat found in margarine and excess Omega-6 found in margarine and seed oil that is harmful to your health. 2003 is when I went Paleo and quit smoking.
Thanks I dont eat spreads at all . Never liked butter or margarine and never been one for pastries or pies . Thats why I tend to have soggy sandwiches lol. I for one dont think we can completely eliminate 100% of things that arn't good for us . But we can limit their intake if we are careful.
I don't think it is that hard to eat a healthy diet at home. When I am away from home it gets to be bit more tricky. There is nothing wrong with fried food per se providing it is fried in the right stuff. This is not usually the case. I usually take food with me and eat from supermarkets. Occasionally eat out at an upmarket café. Cakes and desserts at home are not bad if made with the right ingredients. This usually means home made. How about avoiding stress in your life?
Keto. No junk or processed foods. No sugar. No drugs, very limited alcohol (as in I bought a 12 pack of beer two months ago and still have 11 left). The thing that has helped me out the most, and I would have scoffed at this a couple years back, is that I go barefoot 24/7. That one lifestyle change alone got rid of back, knee and hip pain.
