I have chopped wood barefoot,long handled axe helps plus I have split many cords over the years. Bought a hydraulic splitter finally!

 

That’s great to hear that someone else chop wood barefoot too . I would split the wood with a long axes too but where I live they have told people that we can’t burn wood During the winter that much because of Pollution that wood burning makes . That hydraulic splitter works great I bet .

 

Rough start to the week for me.. I've been unable to walk for past couple of days after my foot (metatarsal bones) took a very hard blow on the back edge of my wooden skimboard at the beach Sunday evening. Took a pretty gnarly gash wound to the top of my foot from it as well. The x-rays show no broken bones. It's all soft tissue damage to the tendons and ligaments. My whole forefoot and mid-foot swelled up badly so I had to keep my weight off.

As of this morning, I am finally able to carefully walk again now that the swelling in my foot pads has lessened and the feeling in my foot has returned. It's def no where near back to 100%, but do think living barefoot, and thus having stronger feet has helped my foot rebound more quickly than a shod person's would.

 

Barefoot land- surfer wow I’m glad that you did not break any bones. And I think you’re right that being barefoot and having strong bare feet helped you to bounce back. I hope you get to 100 % soon

Thanks barefoot Rick! My foot is about 95% recovered today. Able to walk normally and at a quick pace. Swelling is nearly gone and just feeling an occasional sore tendon prickles in my toes. Barefoot definitely = stronger bones and faster recovery!

 

Thank you nudegardener. Occasional foot trauma is inevitable!

Getting massages from walking in the grass/uneven ground has really aided my healing by supplying more blood flow to the injury site and gently working the muscles.

Not quite ready to get back to my board sports, but it should be soon!

 

I’m glad to hear that you are doing better barefoot land- surfer . Going barefoot has a lot of advantages.

 

Thank you barefoot Rick. I'm fully recovered and got back to concrete surfing on the weekend. Barefooting has huge advantages.

I'm glad I did not take the doctor's advice to wear a "supportive shoe". My gut instinct naturally told me to keep the foot bare, and boy am I glad I did. (Not like I could have jammed the big, swollen foot into a shoe anyway.)

I am - thanks, nudegardener! Full recovery as of last Saturday and right back to my board sports.

Hope you had a good holiday. Every 4th of July I enjoy walking barefoot in the dark around my neighborhood catching good fireworks displays. It's great fun.

my legs also arent normally as rashy as they appear here, it's all the mosquito bites, they do that to me. (also part of why i've been so hesitant to get tattoos on my legs)

we had such a shitty wet winter and spring so they're super thick this year, like almost nonstop rain from november-late may, they're really aggressive too this year for some reason. i got attacked by a good sized swarm yesterday (several hours after the sandals pics) trying to approach a beach at the columbia river where i spent a large amount of time at last year

i had a triathlon suit on yesterday with my regular bike shorts and a body glove rashguard underneath, god damn little fuckers were even jabing me through all that. that trisuit's also fairly thick fabric
